I have found a small IH (50s maybe?)metro van that I might be able to buy,(sorry no pics yet)
Its been sitting with the wheels sinking in the dirt since 1977 but it looks cool, anyone else built or building anything similar? Divco, stepvan, etc.

Do a search for Littleman's Divco. Makes everyone want one.

Yes,It has been what I think of every time I see a old delivery van etc. since I first saw it.
I would say it is inspirational even though it isnt finished.

The IH delivery trucks are pretty cool. I think I have a picture of on on my other computer, one I get everything transfered over I will post it. I have a Divco, plan is to put it on a '70 GMC 3/4 ton chassis and put a nailhead in it. I would guess that the IH would fit on a 1/2 ton truck chassis but I have not actually seen one in person to see their size comparison.

How about a Dairy truck? The "1995 hot rod version" of the Escondido Dairy truck from the '20s........and Grandma Robinsin's original version.

  15. Here's a little gas / electric job from 1938. I ran across it at the NATMUS museum Labor Day 2007 (the before picture). In the process of trying to find out what it was, I ran across Jay Crist and he wanted to get ahold of it and restore it. He got it in November and his guys worked it over like "Overhaulin". Here it is October 08 and the darn thing is done! Check out the pictures. It's amazing it only took 10 months. He's got a guy named Kelly that did most of the work and the pictures speak for themselves. The guys got talent!

Here's a shot of a 1945 Divco. Stretched 23", Olds Toronado FWD and a small black Chev.

  20. You'd never know it to look at the finished pix, but virtually every single body panel is brand spanking new. The old body was used for patterns. It was just too far gone to fix. Used the frame, engine/generator, axle/motor and steering box underneath and the radiator shell and the headlight buckets on the outside.
Unfreakin believable.....and 10 months to boot!
I did a little research on Walker Trucks after seeing these and found they made a lot of really neat Electric trucks too, back in the late teens and twenties. I'm sure glad to see this one preserved.

    Phil :)

Here's a 1920 model. How'd ya like to buy batteries for this tank?

all it takes is lots of "money"....... but the Thorne Gas-electric is my favorite (i'm a thorne) Yep got a 1930 B1 TG&E. When I picked it up in Pa, Jay's brother Dale showed up while we transferring it from one trailer to another. Mine is an old Reid's Union Dairy, Brooklyn, NY. The other cool thing was talking to Niblack Thorne one of the founders/owners before he passed, at 97 he was sharp as a tack. tt

  22. Special truck issue. There was another finished Divco featured in that issue.
