Here is my dad's chevy. Its an old show car turned racer back in the 60's. It ran in Southern California until about '68 and was then put away.
That is a STREET FREAK! Ah, the early '70s cruising scene. Note the tiny Cal Custom "injector" intake poking out of the hood. One of the old car magazines called such big tires "gigonda," as in the word "giant" + "gonda."
Here is a shot from the Nostalgia Funny Car Reunion at Marion County International Raceway this past summer: Funny, I took more pics of the gassers then I did the F/C. Marty
Does anyone have a picture of Pete Millar's (Drag CARtoons) Willys gasser, "Gang Green"? Thanks, Marty
that thames was a neat ride....was for sale several times...i should have bought it when it was at the first gasser reunion in 02.... even had a funny car style body....can't remember where it ended up...but it did end up with a new chassis , think fred from be cool might have had something to do with it.......brandon
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's Randy Dobbs out of Long Beach. He came into my shop a few years ago talking about it. I went to his house, and there it was, from the covers of some of my early 70's Popular Hot Rodding magazines. He's owned it all these years. It was in TRJ a few yrs back, right after Chuck(?) Lombardo finished the restoration at his California Street Rods here in SoCal. It wears it's original headliner for flavor. GREAT restoration
