Geez Papasmurf, exactly what kind of tool are you? Pud puller? Screwed driver? Dork wrench? Drop it already and talk about hot rods for crissakes! Have you thought about what engine you'd like to run in your project?

What kind of valve covers are those? Man, I thought my Offy's were hard to find, but I've never even seen a set of those before...

I never paid attention to the back panel on your truck before - or maybe I've never seen it. Is it just a closed cab pickup panel cut down? The OG RPU panel has that wierd dogleg at the beltline. Henry Ford being how he was I wonder why they did it that way and not your way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, mine is just a cut off closed cab. I wonder the same thing about Henry and the 32 rpu.

I really like 32 rpu's for what they are, the rare factor and all, but I think my version will have more pleasing lines [IMG] [IMG]

that's soooo great - building rods under 6000.- - wouldn't work over here

cheapest one I've built was for hmm ~ 7000.- (inlc SBC and th400 ....)

FYI DRAMASMURF, I'm 185 lbs, not 110, 5' 10" tall, 34 inch waist and 44 inch chest. I've also never built anything in my life, I can't weld or paint and I'm not much of a fighter. I'm just a loudmouthed asshole who likes to make newbies miserable and I use the HAMB to get dates with big burly men. Will you go out with me? I'll buy the chablis, do you like chablis, or are you more of a pinot grigiot type of guy?

Can I nominate this post for having the most flagrant homosexual undertones of any post in recent memory?

They are Keystones from the '60s. You don't even want to know what I have in them, but suffice it to say they will never part company with my coupe even if I have to build 10 motors... [IMG]

They came chrome originally. I had them dipped and polished (although they don't look like it in the pics). The stainless socket head cap bolts cost $40. The extra thick gaskets cost $40 cause the valve covers are warped. I made the bolt sleeves on the bottom edge out of airco tubing to hide the exposed bolts and to also flatten out some of the warpage. My buddy gives me shit constantly for them cause he says they're worth about $10 cause no one wants them because they all warped and all leaked. I think he's just giving me shit cause I've never seen another pair either.

both of you need to shut the fuck up.

papasmurf (stupid fuckin name BTW, it hurt to type it) comes on here... gets the VW bashing that he deserves... comes back... asks a good gawddamn question bout building a low buck hot rod and you wanna get in a cock groping contest???

Most of you bitch about goldchainers... and what is your major complaint?? Could it be the "holier than thou" attitude that some of them have???

    Some of you are worse.

  10. Prolly had between $2500 and $2800 in this...maybe a little less..

Sure Jason, he started a good post, but have you noticed he hasn't asked any questions? Not even stupid ones. I just question his sticktoitiveness and his sincerity about building a car.
I feel kinda bad for bagging on MAMASANDTHEPAPAS, but it's not because I'm "holier than thou", I think it's because I really do have a mental problem. Me and Draglinks are gonna get some help for it.
I tell you what, if it wasn't for MAMACASSANDWICH I wouldn't have seen my new favorite car, slamchop's bucket.

I apologize to everyone for being such a dipshitted buttmuncher.

Bitchin. What style air cleaner are you going to use?

I should have pics of the 302 that's going into my F1 in a couple of weeks. It's painted black with polished Offy valve covers, a polished original Ford 4-barrel aluminum intake from the sixties, and a small Hellings-style air cleaner that I think will make it look a bit more 'vintage hot rod' than the standard issue Cobra-powered-by-Ford gear...

No kidding, I know that truck, it was displayed outside on Collins Ave in North Miami Beach in front of the place for years, am I right? I just noticed you're from Austria, I've got friends who work for the Atomic Agency.
You made a nice truck out of a salt air eaten POS, good job.

That's what I had too... standard issue Cobra. Glad they're gone. I'm going to run a '54 caddy air cleaner, painted that same green and pinstriped with black and cream. It's painted, just need to stripe it still. Maybe someday I can afford a Moon air cleaner for it. Ultimately I want to build a nasty 289 with a tri-power.

Nice. Here's a sneak preview of the shiny bits for my 302--it should only take another day or so of polishing to finish 'em up:

Those are nice too! I'd run those as well. I hate how most of the finned valve covers have that large flat solid area right in the middle of the fins. Really though, anything finned and Ford that's not Cobra is not too easy to find.

Ok, for some updates on the parts Im pickin up. I wanted a flathead but Im getting a 289 for a price I cant refuse wednesday night. Thanks to the motivation here none the less. I was a machinist in high shool and 2 years after so I can do all that myself. My old boss will let me use the shop, just have to buy the rebuild kit. Making strait zoomies. I may buy sleepers 24 stude body wedsday or thurday night if we can work a deal. He has my cell number. Give me a call. Those are my plans so far. If I don't go with that I want a T-coupe body and chop it. At least I have a motor now. Progress will be slow because I will have to find alot of ricer's to fix to fund my project. maybe after I finish the car I can drop a flathead in it, just want to get it running first.

Is the free engine a Ford or Studebaker 289? (A 289 Stude engine in a '24 Stude modified would be pretty cool and unique...)

Hey slamchop, I just noticed that bucket of yours isn't a T. Is it a chopped down '30-'31 model A sedan?

The body looks like one I found last year, I thought it was cool but Draglinks didn't wanna use it. It was beat to hell mind you.

    I love it.

[/ QUOTE ]Thanks Nads its all from metal I had layin around,2 truck cowels,2 rough coupe doors, rear section from a sedan, and 2 headlights and a lot of mediocre bodywork. [IMG]
