Anyone have any pics of Studebaker sedans that have been rodded? I may have acquired a '52 Land Cruiser. the rear handles have been shaven and it's epoxy flat black... Any Ideas?
The problem with your question is that Studebaker sedans are so friggin' cool as is that no one wants to mess with the God-like factory Studebaker lines. Why mess with perfection.....
I have a 50' Starlite coupe with a turbocharged flathead 6 and a 37' two door razorback. We raced a 53' with a turbocharged flathead 6 at the salt, then put in a Ford flathead 8BA with a centrifugal blower last summer. Guess that qualifies as a hot rodded coupe..... See the websites and check out "racing Studebakers". The Stude driver's club has a monthly mag, Turning Wheels, which has featured hot rodded Studes every month for many years.
Here ya go: The first pic here is of a '51 4 door at Paso in '06. It's not mine. I forgot the guy's name who owned it. Not an easy chop, but it looked good. The second pic is of my '50 Starlite Coupe for comparison.
Here is one from the Boise area. It is factory paint and interior. He installed a Vortec V6 with a 700r4. Sounds sweet and a nice driver.
Mine's a '64 "Lark" Commander which I don't have a pic of right now and really don't think it would help you much anyway. Do try these sites: http://www.studebakerdriversclub.com/index.asp http://www.racingstudebakers.com/ Good Luck!
I have another of the chopt cdan at Paso '06, then i know the other aint a cdan but it gives a pretty good idea of what a kustom Stude can look like. The 'flaked vynil removable hard top is tits! i seem to remember that this pic was from Bo Huffs party after Bonneville a couple of years ago.Never seen the car since.
