I have been posting pics from my phone here for a long time. It now states that the file is too large when both trying to change my avatar a few weeks ago and just now when I was trying to send a couple pictures for a post? What’s up? Thanks

You have to crop the picture to be a little
    smaller.

    Step-by-Step Guide:
    1. Open Photos: Launch the Photos app on your iPhone and select the image you want to crop.
    2. Enter Edit Mode: Tap the Edit ****on in the top-right corner.
    3. Select Crop Tool: Tap the crop icon (a square with two arrows) at the bottom.
    4. Adjust the Crop:
      • Drag Corners/Sides: Drag the corners or edges of the rectangle to manually define the area you want to keep.
      • Use Presets: Tap the crop box icon (three rectangles) in the top-right to choose standard ratios (like 1:1 Square, 9:16) or unlock for freeform.
      • Move Image: Drag the photo itself within the crop box to reposition it.
    5. Save Changes: Tap Done in the bottom-right corner to save your cropped photo.

    Hello,

The simple thing to do is to use your home computer or laptop. But, most folks take photos these days with their phones. Why? Well, they fit in your pocket and are always with you, wherever you go. Mostly…
But, the limiting thing is the size of the phone screen. As little as it is, it has gotten better in a somewhat clearer photo screen. Although, it is very tiny compared to a 30 inch desktop monitor or a 17 inch laptop screen.

So, yes, the phone photos have gotten a lot better in quality and the telephoto zoom has improved, too. It is more advanced than earlier phone versions, whether an Apple phone or an Android phone. So, yes, do take photos, but try to compose the photo first, whether it is on zoom or normal view. The normal view is hindered due to the dinky screen. The zoom version is usually too large due to the screen size limitations.

Now, once you take a photo, save it to your home computer or roving laptop. Yes, the phone has the modifications to re-size, change some things and make some cuckoo additions, etc. But, you are working with a dinky screen and unless you enlarge the whole photo for clarity, bad background errors, gnats or such on the photo, will be there when you print or post.

The whole thing about phones is they are handy for emergencies, as a phone. Not for whipping them out at the instant a car wreck or a gathering protest on a corner is happening. Due to the small screeen, more modifications and adjustments are too small to see unless enlarged to a big photo. But, now, the whole surrounding photo effects are out of the main photo. A nice sunset or a wave breaking behind a hot rod parked on the sand at the beach… etc.

Here is still, IMHO, the best way to see your photos on a larger screen, with full adjustments made as to clarity and composition. If one takes a couple of photos of a hot rod, one will have less background “noise” such as a peering visitor or a tree sticking out of the hot rod roof. Now, you can also see the blems and adjust accordingly on a larger screen at home.

The main emphasis from an old story:

So, for those that copy internet or any website photos, then post with full image directions, may be over sizing the photo and will become blurry. Take a minute and get some clarity. YRMV

It won’t take but a few minutes to open the saved photo copied to your files and make the photo program work, to lessen the intrusion on the hot rod photo. The larger it is, the more grain comes to light…

    Note:

If one copies a photo and pastes it on a Word Do***ent, you can then adjust the size to fit your post. Then, if it is not very clear, use your photo program to make things clear as they should be for good photos.

Insert your adjusted photo in this space:

and it will give you approximate size for the thread posted paragraphs.

If the posted photo fits the blank space, then it will be posted nicely on the thread. Otherwise, the photo may be too large, have unwanted items and needs to be cut down to show what is important in the photo.

Composition is the key to a good photo…

If it is too large, then delete and make your adjustments to fit the box without going overboard with a fuzzy photos. They are photographs and aren’t going anywhere, so take your time to get clear photos to post.

The Microsoft Paint program allows you to adjust the actual photo to see how much is needed to make it fit the whole page section.

Microsoft paint adjustments. The red arrow to resize to any overall shape. The blue arrow with the blue “Cut” tab selected to actually cut down the unnecessary size of the overall photo. Now, it fits fine...

All I do is screenshot the photos that you want to post then post the screenshots. It’s a lot easier and you can delete them or the original whichever you want and keep the other

    Hello,

Screenshots are different for most computers and laptops. It should all be the same with what you are saying. But, a screenshot needs a place to post them to see if it is the right size to fit the post. A screen shot covers exactly what it implies, it takes a photo of the whole screen. Now, it needs a place to post them.

The easiest way is to "right click and copy," on your mouse. Then once it is copied, you need someplace where you can adjust the actual copied internet photo and re-adjust the size. If the first "right click and copy" then post is pasted in the HAMB space and it works, then you are finished. All I did was to right click and copy the above instructions as a complete photo.

It just happens to fit the HAMB space. But, I had to have a space to paste the original copy. i first used Microsoft Word. Ihen I used the Paint program for the final design and size.

Using other built in computer/laptop programs, the photo now takes on a different meaning and is the center topic. No useless interference of the hot rod…YRMV

It takes a little extra time from the "copy and paste" any photo from the internet. But, the results are better with a good composition. We all see a zillion copied photos at shows and unless you are in the location without people, it is difficult to get a clear shot. The latest normal computer/program allows one to adjust any photo to get those background items to fade away from the main topic of the photo... the hot rod...

Otherwise, you have to take the pasted photo and put it on a Word Do***ent so you can see how it fits the story you are typing. That is the easiest way to paste a photo to a written story. Although, I am under the impression that most just copy and paste the internet photo right onto the hamb space, regardless of quality of the composition and focus. That is why some photos… most photos are slightly blurry. The word do***ent at least give you a space to paste the copied photo and now can crop out the stuff that makes the photo not so good.
