Here are hundreds of pictures from our trip From CA to Ill down Route 66. We had a great time. We met some great people and made some great memories. I'll tell more of the story later. Enjoy A photobucket link is below. So the trip was great. My old man came into L.A. for the first time ever Sunday. . I picked him up from union station and we headed out. Right away he got to exspirence LA drivers and their finest. ( pickup truck full of **** stopped in the freeway) A quick slam of the break and a lane change and we where off. Made a stop in Burbank for breakfast then dropped the bags and it was time for the lightning tour around town. We headed back to Hollywood, Sight seeing, show him certain landmarks, Famous streets and all that stuff. Then we did the first part of what is considered the Route. Santa Monica Blvd. out to the coast. Took a right at the PCH and headed up the coast for a bit. His first time seeing the Pacific Ocean. We turned back around and made a stop to check out the pier. (He's got the pictures from that) We headed back and worked our way through Bel Air to Beverly Hills and a run up Benedict Canyon to Mullholland Dr. Checked out the beautiful view and came down Laurel Canyon. Took him to Casa Vega. My favorite place to eat. I took him to meet some of my friends then it was time to rest and start the big trip the following day. We got up early to beat LA traffic. Gave the Riv a once over, Loaded her up and hit it! We started at Sunset and Hollywood Blvd. headin east. Theres not much to see through there. Its mostly modern buildings and things have changed so much, the old is hard to spot. But, you think back to the times of old rickity cars of the twenty's and thirty's traveling west and how hard it must have been. Then the later cars and speeds climbing and cars getting bigger, Old trucks, Buses all sharing the same road. It must have been quite the trip back in those times. You can almost see it as you think back. Pretty cool. Onward we head toward the mountains and the desert. We hit our first stretch of old road around Helendale. Some cool old gas stations and rolling, ROLLING little hills. Dont hammer it... You'll be airbourne! haha. Rolling along through the high desert heat we make a stop at the Bagdad cafe to eat. What a great time. A great place with great people. And really good food. While waiting for our food we looked around at the thousands of items brought from people, Car clubs, Motorcyclists from all over the world. amazing. While sitting there a tour bus rolled up full of foreign tourists. My Dad was beside himself laughing. "They must think your Riv is a prop.... Their snapping picture after picture off it" It was great to see him having such a laugh. So definitely stop in and take it all in. We finished up and headed out. Lots of ground to cover. More to come tomorrow
