For those of you who were helping me, yesterday. I have the pictures now.

Please let me know what year/make auto you think this is from. My ignition switch is kinda sloppy and hanging up a little coming back from start to run position causing my starter to drag for a second. The tilt column and steering wheel are nice and tight with no slop.

  2. that's a GM column...with the dimmer switch built into it i believe that is from sometime in the 70s. by your description of your problem i still don't know if it is the actual switch down along the bottom part of the column , the actuating rod rubbing on something, or the key/lock mechanism up by the wheel. you should be able to take the parts off and match them up at Napa

the switch itself is just held on with a couple screws

i've switched key/locks in them before and they are all pretty much the same as far as i can see...someone correct me if i'm wrong. you will need to pull the steering wheel and then remove the steering lock plate to get down to the key/lock. you will need a couple special tools to do that...but they are cheap and available at any good auto parts store
