  2. Here's my '69 Trump Bobber.

I started with a good primer, added a couple coats of Brown, a couple White, and finished with a good gloss Black.

Then the fun starts. You slowly wet sand with some 2000 grit. Pay attention to where the sun would naturally fade, and in this case, where your legs would rub.

Did that once, when I was a kid with no money ... I didn't want the rapid deterioration into patina, but I sure got it.

preworn jeans, relic'd guitars and faux patina are all trends that I wish would die.

So, I drive my avatar everyday... Patina out the ass, all earned the old fashion way! What's the most popular question? When ya gonna' paint it? Are you gonna restore that? I don't want a pretty shiny paint job to worry about, just another clean coat of primer to make it look like I care... Primer it and let patina take care of itself. You'd be surprised at fast it will. I don't mind fake patina stuff, just when it gets over board and includes rust holes on glass cars, trite old timey signs that just don't fit the car, that sort of stuff.

Turned up this thread looking for tips on doing an aged finish, that door edweird did and the cars concretman posted are the best IMO. That Rolling Boners look is what I'm hoping to capture.

My wife and I are still on the fence about this one. Paint it or leave it as is.

I hate to drag up an old thread but your car is the tits man. And you're right, hot rodding is about doing your own thing and adding your own flavour.
