Why would someone take the time to write pages of rules to follow, as far as show guidelines and not follow them? I not sure which one threw me over the edge. Maybe it was all of the monochromatic paint jobs or wait maybe it was the pro street 66 Chevy pickup or no wait maybe it was the dozens of trailers in the lot that were'nt supposed to be there and ah yes the proverbial Golden Retriever that was so proudly marched around. Just a rant. Good cars, good people, good times!!!

You got to be kidding me, your bitching about such a small %??? 800 plus cars and 3 or 4 bad choices?? WOW I don't know if you had a car (I'm thinking not:rolleyes: ) in the morning when the gate were opening but folks were wanting to get in bad. Kinda a mad rush to get a cool spot or get to the swap:D . Please tell us about how much you like the show??
    thanks John

in all honesty... more cars with BS made it in this year than ANY other year... and i hope it is just one idiot at the gate, not the money thing, cause i know LOTS and LOTS of cars got turned away... it just seems that for the first time at a pileup i questioned how something got in more than a few times

Advertising it with the rules posted as such saves the street rodders the trouble of a few hundred mile trip only to be turned away. It lets people know that the show is geared towards traditional rods and customs, not street rods and billet barges.

I agree with your point. The Pileup's sole purpose was to be an alternative to everything from trailor queens to billet kings. I still say it's the best show of the year for me, and the only one I WILL NOT miss! May the farce NOT ever be with us on this one! As the bumper-sticker stated: "Got rust?" HCPU is still the best in this area!

Yeah, some people will bitch now matter what you give them. This is the 5th year of the show and every year a few bad ones sneak in. It happens. We also turned away more than ever. No one complained. Since we've gone so far down hill, don't come next year. OK by me. I sure wish I was as perfect as JetDoc

From all the pictures people posted the only thing i saw that raised a flag was the lime green 57 chevy with the 1990's style pro stock scoop. That wouldnt be enough to make me bitch. I'm still bringing my truck next october!

FWIW, it has nothing to do with money. All the money we make goes into putting on the next year's show. Once we have enough to cover things if we get rained out a year or two, we'll be giving money to charity.

i'm glad you guys had a good time. We sure had a good time hosting it

It's ok John I have thick skin. You have to, to belong to this knitting circle!

  18. Hellfish, you guys put on one hell of a show. I've been coming for three years now and am already looking forward to Hunnert Car Pileup 2007!

So a few cars sneak in, there were still
800 other cars that were exactly what this show is about!

Thank you Chrome Czars and everyone who helped with the Pileup. I had a great time and my kids are getting introduced to a kind of hot rodding that they will be able to afford and do themselves!

The only change I want to see for '07 is me bringing better footware. Parking folks for four hours on gravel with no arch support was great until I sobered up. ;)

My eyes did kinda glaze a bit on the Green Gasser '57, didn't notice the scoop. ;) I was glad I wasn't working the gate.

I personally turned away probably a dozen cars at least, Eyeball DId the same...

We even pulled stickers off of cars that had got them somehow, and turned them away at the gate.

there was a guy with a Red "rat rod" pickup cab modified thing, with Exposed AC, Polished Independant, Fenderless, and 18" new american 5 spokes on it. He tried 3 times to get in.

there were a few that sneaked in somehow.

As far as the 65/66 Chevy Pickup deal. the only differance between them and a 64 is some dash stuff and the grill. I thought about asking for regisration. How far do you want to go?

I had fun talkin with the older gents that came to see stuff that looked like/was close to stuff they did 30+ years ago. One guy's eyes lit up when I told him I was more interested in getting an Orphan back on the road than a Ford or a Chevy.

The only question I have is haven't ANY shoeboxes been crushed? There were a TON of them. ;)

The best part was that I didn't see any crappy cars. It might have been the dust, tho. ;)

  26. Did anybody see the Olds Silhouette minivan...that was tits!

To Hellfish and the rest of the chrome czars...kick-ass show. Proud to help out and looking forward to next year. DW was a blast to work for. :) Your lady's car was bitchin'. I especially dug the dark grey primer and pearl blue '56 Dodge Coronet D500...;)

Seemed like twice as much foot traffic as last year...in any event...congrats to another great pile-up in the books. My buddy already has a countdown to pile-up '07 written in black magic marker on the trunk lid of his '57 Caddy. We'll see you there.

  27. Did the guy selling the meat sandwiches have toothpicks...?

    That's all I wanna know...

I can't imagine the Pileup not being cool as all Hell.
Sorry I missed it and I'm sorry the doggy and the trailers bummed your day.
