Maybe next year the ChromeCzars can give a can of that flexible flat black "bumper paint" to each guy tending the gate...... THEN-they cam just spray dem billet steerin wheels and 20"mags and accessories and then they dont turn anyone away!
Keeping with the theme of this post, I thought you guys might like to see some of the crap we have to put up with. I got these 2 emails over the weekend... from 2 different people... not even 1 week after the Pileup. My response follows Today one of them wrote me back... followed by my response I guess there's a reason I'm not in public relations...
Are they for real??? Your pulling our leg right?? Man, I don't envy your guys at ALL. They can all stay home and watch TV that weekend just like that little bitch in Lodi, Ohio.
Asshole no 1 says that the depot days is going to have a rat rod show the day before their show. That is because they love the winny trophy queens at that show. My "rat rod" may get a lot of looks at that show butthe judges dont like it. Fine by me. I just pisses the guy off that has a $60,000 cobra sitting next to the ratty t-bucket off at that show. i think the hunnert is great and gave me a goal to get my car done this year. It was the mayden voyage for the buick. all in all, the hpu is awsome and if you dont like it quit bitching.
Hellfish, that's funny. I was parking just inside of the gates, so I was often THE guy that asked the questions. I didn't mind that at all. But a few times I got asked questions like "What do we get for our $20 bucks. Something like a plaque?" To which I said politely, "No, sorry." But my sarcastic inner monolog said "Um...you...get...a...SPOT!" It's probably the same guy. By the way, whats the official count of the "un-heated rat rods that drove 80-150 mile to the show?"
we didn't break them down by categories. People bitching about the price clearly have never tried to put on their own show. It costs a lot of money. 3 bands is worth $20 in my opinion... and besides that... it's really only $15 considering you get a $5 off coupon for a shirt with your entry fee. These folks clearly don't "get it". It's ok by me. The HAMB gets it, and that's about all that matters.
Don't change a thing man. That dude apparently doesn't get it. Nothing going on? What the hell? I was wore the hell out and didn't get to do all I wanted to do. My guess he's a Goodguys reject or something. Another thing, people that call their cars "rat rods" scare me. I've paid a WHOLE lot more for a WHOLE lot less. Maybe you could have two categories? Group 1 pays 20 bucks and digs it the way it is. Group 2 pays 30 bucks and gets a $5 trophy and something to really bitch about?
That's what I'm talking about. If that are all the complaints you got from the THOUSANDS of people in attendance you can't be doing all that bad.
This year was the first time my buddies and I made it. IT WAS AWESOME! We had seven cars in our group ('49 Chevy, 2- '50 Chevys, '50 Ford, '56 Ford, '60 Cady, and my '62 Biscayne). Everyone of us drove our cars from St. Louis, Mo. (no trailers), every car fit the guide lines, and everyone made it in the gate. My only bitch was the weather, too freakin cold in the morning. I do wish the event was longer, we didn't get to see everything. We will be back next year for sure. Marty Mcfly
I was joking with a few members of our club that I could not put up with the BS you guys must get. This confirms that. I often thought that if our club did anything. It would be invitation only party. Pretty much a HAMB meet I guess. Later and great job, plan on making it again next year since we have missed the last 2 damn adult responsiblity.
Hey McFly, You one of the Bombers? I was in the little A pickup that blew past you guys just befor the exit off the main highway. Good to see a club rolling with those numbers!
Hey McFly! Glad you made it on here. Yeah, we get some crap like that. It gives us something to laugh about.
You guys don't know how bad I wanted to make a "Belly Tank" T-shirt for the Pile-up. Be fun just to see the goofy looks on people who didn't get to read that thread. Remember this?
You should come up with Rashy and Flt Blk next year, heck there were a bunch of Lone Star boys representing this year. I think we might be able to find room for that new/old hot rod of yours.
