It will be Pearl White from the body line down and Chunky Blue Metal Flake from the body line up. I am too cheap for a bubble top. I will tell you the secret to building this shit, the same thing applies to the spacetruck. I bought what was available to me cheap and stuck it together. Simple as that.

I can assure you that I am no ruler! Matt, you are being generous at 6 inches. The last time we "hooked up" it was kind of flaccid form all the beer, sorry! It may have been 4", tops. Ha Ha Ha...... I suppose that was what Denise was referring to with the "tape measure", I had it rolled up! Ha Ha Ha

Plowgirl can verify that I come from no automotive lineage. If I can do this shit ANYBODY can. Hell, I learned how to weld on the spacetruck and I am still pretty stupid at motor work. When I was growing up my dad put a hot tub in our garage and had some guy in town change his oil.....also, bondo is my friend!

Nate, I have never been out to California, it wasn't me.

Glassguy, I will trade you for your merc, even with the caved in door!:D

Bass, thanks again for the drawing, if it wasn't for that, when I tell people what I am doing they scratch their head until I show them the pic, then they scrtch their head some more!:D

Hey Aaron, you know you are going to have to redo the Spacetruck when the Lander is finished, right? The Lander makes it look bad. ;) ;) hahaha

Looks bitchin. Are you gonna bring it to the Pileup?

Wow, we should keep bumping this post to the top to show what can be done when you're not searching egay for overpriced, or way ugly stuff, or preaching about how things look, or crying about stuff you can't buy cause the old guy won't sell.

Awesome stuff, makes me, and my stuff look like a kid playing with tinkertoys...

Maybe I'm a jack-ass but I think that thing needs a blown W-Head chevy or blown Hemi...

And it needs to be painted bright, heavy-flaked, YELLOW and it NEEDS to be called "THE WASP"...

I just looks to me like the wasps that chased me last weekend after I knocked their nest down...

(In case anyone might think the wrong thing, WASP was a reference to the bug not a slight on our fine Jewish-American brothers and sisters. ;) )

Pearl white and blue... YAY! Im goin with the same colors and scheme on my Ford. Good taste, I see. :D

Whatever you do, it HAS to have massive amounts of flake on it.... Are you doing any other effects on it? Flames? Scallops? Fades?

You did'nt happen to take your wheels to tire barn in champaign? The manager there was a total dick. I have'nt gone there in 4 years, but it sounds like some stupid shit he pulled with me. Piss on him either way.

Completely off subject, but "WASP" stands for White Anglo-Saxon Protestant... has nothing to do with Judaism :)

    PS - Plowboy's still a ruler.

I hate to break it to you, but Mel, Glassguy, and Irritant are all correct! Someday when I win the lottery I may consider building a car that is totally period correct, but as for me, building is the fun part, I ain't gonna wait around 3 years to save the money for the "correct" piece. How many 59 Olds roadsters were there "back in the day" anyway? I like to think of it as my interpretation of how it would have been. I was born in 73 so however it goes in my mind is fine with me.

As for a tire shop, I wouldn't have tire barn put air in my tires let alone mount them. They don't even have a bay to pull a car inside. It is funny to go by there in the winter and see a Caprice up on 2 floor jacks outside in the snow about to fall over with 2 guys under it getting a new set of 20's. Ha ha ha. I went to Heath's in Monticello. I knew they could do it, they do fancy ass 20's and stuff. Dr J is correct, where I live you only have so many options. Monticello is 13 miles away and it is the closest. I can drive 13 miles where I live faster than you can drive 3 blocks in town though. Just watch out for the deer and turkeys! Ha ha ha.

I already commented, but I just have to say that the lander is one one of the coolest, if the THE coolest thing I've ever seen on the HAMB.

It's like porn for a car freak.

Can't wait to see it finished.

and the psycho swede is onto something with the bubble top idea.

My suggestion about the Hemi or W-motor wasn't about period correctness it was just about style...

I think a SBC would be cool in there too and probably just as period as a Blown Hemi... (Just for god's sake don't put fake olds valve covers on it!)

I still think it would be cool to paint it bright yellow or maybe a light gold with black pinstripes and call it the W^$&! ;)
