Pinion Angel?

    Yes, otherwise the joint on the pinion will gall and fail, when the grease fails to circulate. One degree works well.

    This may help you. I downloaded it years ago and use it as a guide. So far, no problems.

    #4 can be made to work. That is the "broken-back" configuration. It can be found in Land Rovers, where it works just fine:
