For a 1950 Ford what is the torque on the yoke nut to the pinion with the 3 rd member in the car.

I'm no third member expert, but I do believe that needs to be torqued on the bench with a new crush sleeve, so you can hold it solid for proper torque value, and then you measure the preload resistance on the bearing.
I may well be 180 out but I'm sure someone will chime in..........

  5. Since you didn't specify what rear end, I'm ***uming its stock. There isn't exactly a tightening torque spec per se. Factory calls for 22-28 in/lbs TURNING TORQUE (the force required to overcome the pre-loaded bearings and get the pinion spinning) with new pinion bearings and 10-15 in/lbs for used bearings with the early pinion gear and 13-18 in/lbs for the revised later pinion gear. If it's loose or noisy you're probably not going to improve things by cranking down on a potentially decades old crush sleeve.
