id like to thank you guys for this thread, it inspired me to investigate a little.. so i bought the wizard pine striping basic dvd. its a hour and twenty minutes or so long.. i have never seen anyone pinstripe before. not a artist, working with wood has always been my hobbie.. anyhow, after watching this dvd.. it makes me feel i could learn to do this. i may buy black, white one shot, board of mac brushes, and give it a go. :) thanks again, im always one to try new things. never know what you may like or not like if you do not try..
and it dose not seem to expensive to buy 2 cans of paint and some brushes, new exacto blade, and roll of tape. he uses a black piece of aluminum in this movie and teaches 10 basic lines to practice in the first 30 mins and little tips and such along the way. this is a very good entry level video i think.. me being as noob as you can get on the subject and its made me want to try.

Be sure to enjoy pulling stripes! You're not going to be a master at it for a while!

Some guys "graph" off their design area, while others wing it and stripe away trying to
achieve symmetry per their eye? Don't discount spontaniety in design for absolute left-to-right exactness!
There's no right or wrong, just try to do your best and have fun with it!

pinheadlounge is an excellent place to get reinforced critiquing and ideas.

I've found the more relaxed I am,the better I stripe.
    Enjoy!

I haven't tried it yet, but I wondered if it would really be that different than glass. I noticed my washer is really smooth, yet has some fairly apperant orange peel to the finish, don't know if they're all like that. I just remembered reading it and thinking "that's far less dangerous than this big piece of plate glass I've been using" Originally I opted for the glass, so I could do the trace thing, but haven't done it yet. I've had alot of fun just letting it fly. Has a more organic feel to it.:D

Glass is good to start with, because it is MORE difficult than a painted surface.

www.coastairbrush.com has all you need. HOK is good stuff, just NOT for beginners. 1 Shot will always rule.

  6. Its good to try both anyway! try as many brands as u can to get the feel of what u like. I like to practice with 1 shot for a couple of reasons. 1 its half the price. 2 If u use the HOK without clearing over it u r supposed to use a catalyst From what Ive heard. And pretty much what a lot of people said. Its flat without clear. Also some colors r kinda thin. If u r clearing over it, Definately go with HOK. Who wants the chance of the one shot ribboning. Dont wanna sound like a broken record but experiment with both. One shot over clear. Hok under clear. Thats pretty much how I use it. Oh and I highly recommend a couple beers like some of the other people. It helps u keep ur sanity when u mess up. :)

    Good reading.

Fooled around with striping years ago and would love to get back into it again but I don't think I have the patience to do it right.

I sure enjoy seeing everyone else's creativity at work though!
