Love it, I'd like something like that someday. I really like the tiki face, and I don't think the wide lines look bad on that, i guess it would depend on the size of the thing you're striping, it suits that truck. Just my two cents....

Looks great - I could point out the flaws - but then I couldn't do any better....

I think the imperfections make it cooler - just like the rest of the truck.

    Remember, you asked for opinions....
I really like everything except the tiki face. Personally, I'm just not into pinstriping that has faces in them. I do like the lines, wide and narrow though. Great work.

(Love your work...it's cool in that it lacks any formal direction...just does what it wants to do and does so with conviction! Dig it!)

The symmetry was the flaw that stood out for me - but even the best in the biz get a few out of whack now and again - much more subtle than this o'course.

Damn dude, that's pretty cool! Although I'm not wild about the thick lines personally. Defiinitely better than I can do right now.

Good thing you finished that sentence with PPoC and Ray and Ian...definitely set your sites higher than my level of mediocrity! [IMG]

As for the critique...stop striping...NOW! Give it up. Don't quit your day job. Actually...all kidding aside...that's a really REALLY nice job! I dig the face. You've got your own style working in that piece and anything you think you stole from me...is just something I stole ffrom somebody else! [IMG] BARON VON TINGLER=paint genius!

VT, I likes it!. I don't know about anyone else, but sometimes faces just show up in my striping all on thier own. [IMG] I think it really fits the truck. Good job!

The only 2 words that come to my mind are "FUCKING EXCELLENT !!" [IMG]

    Very expressive.
The overal impression of design more than makes up for any "flaws".

    Symetery can be improved with a Stabillo grid,and/or templates,pounce patterns,french curves,etc.
    And lots of practice.

That looks great I think that some variation in symetry is a neat part of striping adds the human element. I know I am not symetrical one ear is lower than the other... [IMG] [IMG]

......Jason....as with the other mediums you have worked in, this is OUTSTANDING!! I have always been partial to the thin lines, but the way you have built your design in "layers," the think lines just look that much sweeter. Your own style.........you ROCK!!!

Now I am singing the darn song.

  23. The wide lines give it more depth or is it width? [IMG] Anyway, your style rocks, I like it.

I think its great that no stabillo was used or any measurement techniques other than eye.hand brush!! Man after my own heart. I judge a striper by his ability to stripe exactly what he or she wants without limitation by lack of skill ,reguardless of styles

Tingler V, I like it. Thick lines are gay? Well I don't know about that. I have a reputation for the very fine lines I use. But I do like your thick lines and the fill ins. I like the face in the design. Like VG Grodon. I often have faces just happen in my works. If I see them evolving then I will play on them and run with them. I do have a bit of a technique for doing faces. One simple thing is to mark in a centre line when you are striping, especially on symmetrical objects. Even if your design lacks a little symmetry when your done at least the piece will be mostly centered. When I was teaching myself to stripe I strove to get things as exact from side to side. Then when I was experienced and had a handle on this then I felt comfortable when things were a little different. The more complex a design is then these slight side to side variations can be less obvious. There I go again, way to much information. From what you showed here , you don't need my advice. Nice work! geoff aka Whodaky

Dont you guys think it would be better to learn how to stripe with ot any aids such as grease pencils ,pre drawn designs, tape or grids? I see it as a crutch that helps develop weakness in a stripers instinct.

  27. regardless of this and that, i like it~!! its loose and free. the lack of symmetry is actually beneficial in this particular instance i think....the proverbial happy accident. if it were mine i'd be bent because i'm really working on symmetry and balance, but i'm finding that there are things i like in other peoples work that i would get mad at myself for, or cant bring myself to do for whatever reason...go figure. nice job!

i dont think the symmetry aids develop weakness, i just think everyone works differently. some have a better sense of certain things, balance, color, symmetry, perspective, what have you. i did my first fully gridded piece today and it helped in guiding me thru some weak spots, but it confused me and made others difficult. so i think it can go both ways. i prefer to work with a centerline only, but i thought i'd try it anyway.

Just to weigh in with another two cents worth. I tried using a grid and found it to confining. I certainly am not in a league with the pros on the board but have gone back to just a center line. I think the subtle variances are what makes it art, one of a kind. If you want perfect get a computer generated decal from Auto Zone with no soul.

Just for shits and giggles I bet if everyone who used a centerline stopped, before long finding the spot would become natural instinct
