How do most striper charge for their work? by the design or by the hour? By the end of the summer I will start hunting one down, just wanted to know what to expect.

  2. stripers are like ******s.

we'll charge what we think we're worth or what we think we can get.

in most cases you get what you pay for.

I have always just charged by the time involved. How many colors and where the work is going to go. I have been from 85 to 500 bucks it just depends on the job

I agree, find one that lays lines that you like and work out a deal. I have seen pinheads charge as low as $10 and it goes up from there. You can get into a couple of hundread bucks pretty quick.

Depends on how much you want, who is doing it,number of colors, etc.
If the car is primer, mistakes can't be wiped off,so that may influence the price.

And if the customer is a Pain in the ***,that WILL influence the price.

I should have answered the original question:

typical Pinstriping work is most likely priced by the job,not by the hour.

If the guy is having a bad day,and has to wipe it off twice,
before he gets it right, you still pay the same amount.

Make sure you agree on the price first,so there are no "surprises".
Anything added, after the original price is set,may increase the price.

  12. It depends if they can pull straight lines. Straight line pulling ability = Expensive :)
