Technical piston swap question

    What you want to do is about the same as a valve and ring job that has been done a million times. Remove the ring ridge and deglaze the walls use new cast iron rings not the old ones just cover the rod journals with shop rags then clean every thing with brake clean.

    It's definitely a dipper motor unfortunately. I'm going to pull the plugs next week and use one of those extendable magnets. I just hope the magnet doesn't fall off inside one of the cylinders haha

    Those old motors were made out of bubble gum compared to the iron they use in later blocks. That was the good old days. In a couple of blocks in Burlingame there were three auto parts stores. Good ones with counter men who knew what they were doing. And machine shops in back. Depended on which side of the street had parking where you got your block bored. And hardware stores sold hardware. Now they are garden supply shops. No more days like that.
