I need a tow vehicle for the fly but don't want to have to haul a 4 wheeler. Would it smoke the little centrifigal clutch on a minibike?
    Need something small and portable.
What about those torque convertor types?

    Any suggestions?

I thought you had 2 kids.
Give em' the rope tied to the fly, sit in the car and tell them to pull you.
    Kids love that shit....

What about a matching pickup with a push bar on it?

    Root,
I can tell you that the mini bike I have sure as hell would NOT pull a car.
IMO those little centrifugal clutches would not do the job.

What you need is a monkey on a Panzer tractor.... [IMG]

That Panzer thing ain't far off - why not trick out a little lawn tractor... ideally a Wheel Horse, but anything old would work. Paint it to match The Fly, add chrome doo-dads... cheep and effective.

    Like this maybe...?

  8. I have a 62 Wheel Horse 702, Haven't tried to get it running yet, but the motor is free. 4 speeds and it's complete. Just pick up my Flathead in Coleman, TX on your way down to pick it up & it's yours. [IMG]

It sounds like you're anxious to get that flathead.

  10. The more I learn about them, the more I want to get it here and tear into it.

It's just too far away for me to get there and back in a weekend, and Freight Co.s want way too much.

    I'll keep trying though... [IMG]

Sorry, I'm hijacking the post, continue on.

I also have Honda XR75 barnfind, not running, same deal...

I think if you geared down a minibike with a jackshaft it would work fine. I think it's a good excuse to build a mini chopper painted to match the Fly.

What if you made a doodlebug? That would probably be too big, though.

  18. My tow vehicle. Built it to move my sprint car around instead of an ATV. 8 hp Tecumseh, Comet torque converter clutch, 3-speed with reverse tranny from a mid-40's Dodge pickup, and chain drive to right rear. Estimated speed in 1st is about 12 mph....in 3rd should top out at a tick over 40.
