Musta' been under a rock... I'v never seen this one before. Thrills, chills and spills on a Figure 8 track. Reported to be Ascot park (with stock footage) , cameos from CJ Hart and Barris. Not enough plot to get in the way of a good story. Check it out. http://watch32.is/movie/zGWKOArG-pit-stop-1969/vodlocker.html
Thanks! Pretty cool, fun movie. Surprisingly well shot for this kind of hokey "B" movie. But boy do they tear up some iron! Your link required a log-in to watch. Might be easier to watch it on YouTube.
"Pit Stop" is the best movie for seeing racing from Ascot Park Gardena during the 1960's. Filmed in 1967 and released in 1969, it is a black and white movie about figure-8 racing at Ascot Park. The best part is seeing the pre-war "Coupes" in action. Exceptionally well filmed with an ultra-low budget. The best performance is by Sid Haig, who plays a nut-case super-waco villain figure-8 driver who hates a rookie driver all through the film. Everything in the film is over-the-top wow in terms of plot. This movie was made with almost no money but is still great to watch. Lots of night time figure-8 racing from Ascot. The glory days. Very cool!
Outstanding...I just got off my ass and ordered a copy of this one earlier this morning - and here you guys are goin' off about it today.
I watched it on Sunday morning, good scenes from Ascot and some real people like George Barris. Definitely high on the hokey scale, but I dug it.
