Going to have to put an offset in this pitman arm. About a 1/2" minimum maybe more like 3/4". Need to do it to clear my split Model A wishbone. Any tips on how to do it. I am going to put it in my bench vise and heat it up cherry red and then bend it with pipe wrench. Same approach completing the offset to make it square.

    Any advise is appreciated. 20190928_152046.jpg

In the Bishop Tardell book they talk about using a 4.5 inch arm that improved steering over a 6". Looks like I have about an inch to play with here.

    Thoughts??

  3. Just a thought....I have read that the Vega box pitman fits the early Ford spline. These can be had with lots of offset built in.Might be a a way to go .

Is that off an early Ford box? If yes, the pitman from any Ford passenger car and light truck from 33-48 will fit on the box. There are quite a few different lengths and offsets.

OK I heated it up and bent it today. I am really happy with the results. Turned out like what was I was loooking Thanks for all the participation. Looks like I lost about a 1/4" by bending it. guys you can't do this with a propane torch. Not enough heat. You need oxy acytelene. 20190929_135735.jpg 20190929_135735.jpg 20190929_135811.jpg
