They made it to Ozark drag strip, now on to Michigan. The last video had something about replacing the fuel pump, and the pass door not opening.

oh, someone did some artwork about the adventure near Roswell!

Great video. So rich in history, interesting people, and countless stories. Some told, some surely not. Route 66 personifies the American spirit and the age of the Automobile. . The road is calling me.

A lot of guys have a real affection for the car because of over 1,100 posts that you and others have made on the HAMB about the car.
Not that I have any say, but I hate to see it become just another dumb ol' give-away car. It deserves a better ending than that:(

I think @squirrel "Has been there and done that" (and made the cover of Hot Rod Magazine a couple of times!).

  16. I hear you loud and clear ,and agree. This car needs the RIGHT new owner who knows and respects all of the journeys it has made with Jim. The crazy highs and the low moments. Many of us have followed along from the build, to the Drag Week adventures and on, and on. This hot rod demands respect!

  17. All the cool cars I’ve had to sell were out of necessity so I’d gladly take one back for free.

I wasn't there but the blower removal with the "sealed" hood was epic!

I don't know, I see it a bit different. The history of this car is great, but the chapter of this car's life with its original builder is over, and Jim selling it showed us that. This marks a new chapter for the car, and the opportunity for it to get in the hands of someone who may not have the resources, time, or skills to build or buy a car like this. Keep in mind that the money spent to enter this draw is likely only to be spent by people with an interest in drag and drive competitions. It's not going to just anyone, it will go to an enthusiast. Will it get sold again? Maybe. It's just another point in the car's story, and isn't taking anything away from what Jim already did with the car.

I'm a mag subscriber but not eligible because I'm in Canada. Do I respect the car and its history with Jim? Absolutely. Hypothetically if I could win it and did, would I keep it? Maybe. Sell it? Maybe. Change the door/quarter art? Maybe.

No offence intended but it's not a historic race car, it was built to be used, abused and repaired again and again. That's what honoring the history of the car is, regardless of where it ends up.

My nephew Gene Pisano that did death week and spoke with Jim a bit said he’s entering the contest seconds after I forwarded him the link.

Someday, maybe the 2040's, 2050's, one of us (that live that long) will be out and about and see that historic Chevy II driving down the road and go holy s#/t, I remember that car, it's legendary, much like Ryan just did when he spotted the Cliff Inman Chrysler on Kauai.

I got a subscription to the magazine and it gave me an entry For the car. Would be pretty cool to get it.

  25. I suppose the guys that are worried about the future of the car should have bought it when @squirrel had it up for auction.

    I guess so.

But it's a very different car....definitely not mainstream, even though it's fast, drivable, and looks neat. There's nothing else like it.

  28. Don’t get me wrong it’s a cool car, however it’s past anyone’s control what happens to it from here.

On the upside, the car and Jim gained some fame here on the HAMB and now they will receive some real well deserved national publication fame with this give-away contest. I just hope it doesn't end up with hack like me...but with a real "engine/racer type guy".

  30. I did give it some thought...
