Anyone on here do plasma cutting or know someone who does? I need a set of front motor mounts in the old Hurst pattern to fit an Oldsmobile Rocket. I have looked and looked and no one seems to have them anymore. In looking at the engine and frame, I believe I could make a set of patterns that would fill my needs. I suppose I could manually cut and grind them myself, but that seems to be a lot of unnecessary work. I don't have a plasma cutter, and at this stage in my life, couldn't justify the expense. Anyone out there do this, and if so, what are the requirements for patterns (materials, etc.). Thanks
i do cutting in house. all i would need is a good card board pattern of the parts you would be needing
Figure out how to change your thread****le to "where to get repro Hurst mounts for early Olds" There is ebay guy who makes them as well as Cad mounts. They are perfect, and one hamber says they are better welded and finished than orig Hurst. I bought some 3 years ago, it was $55 then, plus shipping. I don't get on ebay now, so I forgot the guys store name, but the Olds guys will help with that, if they see this thread. .
Another source is 51 Hemi J here on the H.A.M.B. He cut some absolutely beautiful brackets for me. I don't know what he uses, but I don't think it's plasma. Whatever it is it looks finished when it comes out of his machine. I didn't even have to grind/sand any edges before painting. NOT knocking cornfieldcustoms; just giving out information.
Hmmmm. I've searched every possible way I could think of and can't find them. Is he still making them? Anybody know who it is?
If you can't find a set or that guy, PM me in a few days. One of my "clients" bought a second set just for chassis mockup, ... he already had a painted set on a restored motor...and wouldn't let me use his pretty ones '
@cornfieldcustoms does excellent work for cheap. The parts coming off of his plasma table look laser cut and welded parts are top notch. Definitely give him a shout.
