A couple of mine. The '40 is an old build I cleaned up. The decals are original. The '36 is original plastic with newer work. The purple '40 thing is an old custom that's too cool to change but too awful to celebrate. the '63 2dr ht Merc is a survivor and the 'vert is a partially repaired glue bomb. I should finish some of this stuff.

Models I bought at a church flea- 100% complete except for cellophane wrapper- $2. a piece (all were "3-way" builds, Continental had a station wagon optional roof;Complete models I bought at a yard sale $10. bucks for 7 of them; and a tin garage I got at the dump one Sat. morning for zilch ( missing signage in corners and the gas pumps but...) in perfect condition. What is wrong with people?"One man's trash is another man's treasure". True, true.

  3. With new colors you created a totally different look. I love this

  4. As I remember the early AMT kits used splined axles. Later they were smooth. The splined ones held the wheels a lot better

Sure built a lot of models years ago.

I think the detail and work that went into many of these took hours on end.

  6. Yeah, but they were sure a bitch to get off if you wanted to change them, change the stance or repaint a chassis. ...

JoHan used the splined axles in their kits, AMT/SMP kits the smaller wire type. Promos are usually splined until friction motors disappeared ...

I picked up this PYRO brand kit at the swap meet a while back. I believe it's 1/32 scale. Sort of odd how they decided to mold this thing but it does have nice detail and some cool decals. 40 ford model 2014-10-06 001.JPG 40 ford model 2014-10-06 002.JPG 40 ford model 2014-10-06 003.JPG 40 ford model 2014-10-06 003.JPG

  9. I built a number of those Pyro kits back in the day. They were very inexpensive, fun and quick to build, and looked good with a little paint and stuff. Thanks for the memory.
