    Hello friends.
I’m considering selling my 1933 Ford Roadster Elgin Racer project.

The story of the car this was once part of is she was an all original Roadster in the southeast until the Roadster Body was cannibalizes to make a hot rod with modern frame and run hung gear. I bought what was left to rebuild her mechanicals and build a body to present her as an Elgin style stock car racer.

I was amazed at how great of condition most every part was in. The red dirt of Georgia caked with oil and grease kept most things like new. The only part I could not use was the original engine block so it now has a ‘34 block.

I finished the frame restoration and was about to move on to building an original wood structure body but I’m not sure I can get to it any time soon. It is a complete frame and running gear that has been completely restored and operational. The original frame was stripped and painted with Eastwood Extreme Ch***is black. Every part has been stripped, cleaned, rebuilt, and painted. It has original mechanical brakes with Teds full float kit. The front original shoes were re-lined but the rears are original. All original rotors with ‘33 date marks. The 21 stud Flathead has been rebuilt with .040 bores/flat top pistons and babbitted mains. It has a Stromberg 40 carb, the first Gen, on a ‘34 intake and the distributor has a new rebuilt Ford script coil with updated 68 internals timed on KR Wilson fixture and run on a Sun machine by Mike Driscoll. It starts right up and purs like a kitten with 50 psi oil pressure on start up. Of course like any old flatty the oil pressure drops to about 20 psi after warm up. Sounds great with the Porter 14” muffler on single exhaust out of original exhaust manifolds. The transmission has been rebuilt along with the banjo. Even the little grease cup and lime to grease the throw out bearing is there and restored. The lever shocks are rebuilt and have the correct original levers and dog bones. It has all new electrical wiring running original 6 volt. The original 17” wheels are powder coated with new Lucas Olympic tires and tubes. I could go on and on but the best thing about her is she is NUMBERS MATCHING. That’s right. The transmission VIN matches the three frame VIN stampings. VIN shows she was made mid ‘33.
With the exception of not having ‘33-‘34 aluminum heads and early Intake with Detroit lubricator carb it is nearly concourse correct.
I bought this as an original unmolested complete ch***is and restored it so it is not a gathering of parts. Nearly every part on it, with exception of engine and the new bits, all came from Ford together nearly 88 years ago.
I also have the original gas tank and hydrostatic sending unit. The tank has been stripped but needs restoration. I have the dash with all gauges and bezel trim, accelerator pedal, floor wood, brake and clutch pedal plates, oil and heat gauges (new) and several other bits I was gathering to start the body. But all the mechanicals are here and done. Just drop your body on it and go. Oh yea, I also have the original steering wheel, steering column/tube, and ignition drop cylinder with original key. Original steering gear box was rebuilt too.

Im not quite sure what to ask for it, but I know what I have into it. Looking for $25k and think she’s worth every penny. I have more into her than that. And with her being numbers matching and 100% correct she could be part of a high end concourse car. Ive not applied for the ***le yet for the DMV has been crazy all year with Covid so will sell with a bill of sale. It needs to be ***led as a roadster for that’s what she is.

She’s full of zinc break in oil and all lubed up and ready to go.
