Being in Florida I don't know the car.It looks to me like something really different with great potential.

Don't know the car but and afternoon in the garage could get rid of the rat rod nonsense and make a real hot rod out of it. It looks to have good bones but needs a bit of descabbing.

what part of the country is it in? Like that they retained the stock front suspension.

It was just in a thread on here, but I can't remember where. I remember the chain and a few other "features"....

I remember now, it was an ad here on the HAMB for a desoto rat road roadster. 305/350 original chassis etc. I searched and the ad was deleted, I'm sure for the rat rod reference.

    WTF......
Who are you and what did you do with 3w Larry.
Two posts on this thread and no mention about the radials.
Have you got Larry chained to the Lincoln "buzz box" welder in the basement?

Style and value are subjective. For 14 grand I'd sell you my stock with title 30 ford roadster, new flathead, 3 speed, new quick change, and a set of 40 ford steelies and white walls.
I haven't a clue what a 29 desoto is worth, but I know what it's not worth, to me.

I don't know why I'm being so nice this morning...probably because I haven't had my coffee...

I don't know you, but I can tell by reading what you've written that you don't know a hell of a lot about traditional hot rods...you're new here...take some time to READ what this place is all about...THAT CAR AIN'T IT!
Rat Rods are not tolerated here...

  15. You could probably restore it to original with a 4-door parts car in the $4000 range. That would make a $25K car I would think, given it's a roadster.

    But what do I know.

  18. Listen *very* carefully to what Mr48chev and 3wLarry are telling you.

As-is, that car is over-priced and covered in junk.

If I were in the market for a traditional roadster, I might offer the seller a couple thousand bucks and if I got it, I'd immediately strip the crap off it. Or better yet, I'd buy a *decent* car from a fellow HAMBer off the HAMB classifieds.

that car isn't worth half what he's asking, and judging from what he thinks about his car, I seriously doubt he'd take that for it, so don't waste anymore of your time thinking about it...walk away from it and look elsewhere for something that trips your trigger.

  20. Vespaholic, congratulations- you're starting to see the light.

Keep reading the HAMB and do yourself a favor- come on down to the Jalopyrama < http://www.jalopyrama.com/ > on Saturday, Oct 24th. It's at the Carroll County Ag Center in Westminster, MD, about two hours from Philly. It's one of the best traditional rod/custom events this side of Austin, TX. You'll see a lot of well-constructed traditional hot rods and meet a bunch of great folks.

Of course he does- he's trying to sell it.

Looking at that pile reminds me of a 30/31 coupe that a friend of mine bought many years ago. It was his first foray into hot rods, and boy did he get a ROYAL hosing.
After a very expensive education; the pile of steel he threw in the scrap dumpster at work looked just about the way it was when he bought it. This included the frame, rearend, front and rear suspension, and 1/3rd of the body.
Let this be a lesson to YOU.
    Your welcome.

You can say a lot about that roadster, but you don't have too.
But I like 4 spring cars, I like odd rods, and if that was cheap u would buy it.
Mostly because the rear view of that car/body is BEAUTIFUL.
Very well shaped, from the site shot and tge 45 degrees of the tail.

But if I only want the frame and body a 1000 bucks us a lot, and all above there is stupid money!

OP has the right mind, and only needs a nudge in the right direction!
Welcome to the HAMB, the most ekstraordenary place in the wall, and very addictive!

If you do buy it, I might be interested in buying the grille shell depending on the price you would want for it.

And before anybody jumps on me for wanting a tractor grille, I would want it for a spare in case something were to happen to mine.

1949 BF Avery that my grandfather bought brand new. Still in the family and not going anywhere. I would like to put a tractor grill where it belongs. On a tractor.

That is not a roadster. It is a cut down coupe.

and a few inches of the entire lower body has been cut off.

I have had two Desoto roadsters, a 29 and a 30. The roadster doors are very small, and square just like a 28-29 Ford roadster door. The coupe door is much wider, and taller.

There are many other differences, if you care to do an image search to compare

Good man...I reacted immediately when I saw the SBC in there. (we don't 'Chevy' Mopars)
You'll find something nice, but just keep your head when you do find it.
Too many times a guy'll see something that looks like the silhouette of something he saw somewhere...
and jump in before logic or reason can engage.

That green fenderless Model A roadster earlier in this thread looks like the 'Cream'!

@vespaholic I meant pics of the ones that @F&J owns.;)

I just went and looked at the add, and 14000 are more then the combined pushase value of all my cars combined.
That is a shitload af money, for a car that need a full rebuild to become a proper hot rod.
Good ass and 4 springs ain't that bad, but it ain't 14 grand good!!!!!!

  30. ............................Maybe you could buy Larry a cold one and give him a few minutes of your time to explain "traditional hot-rod" to you.
