Is this number off the plate in the door jamb OR the lip of the firewall next to the p*** side hood hinge?? The number next to the hood hinge is the actual VIN that you register the car with. the number on the plate in the door jamb is a warranty number. I can tell you tha it is a 63 galaxie 500 (notXL) 2 dr fastback that was ***embled in louisville plant. the last letter in the number you listed should be the engine code but there is no C code engine in 63. Write down ALL the numbers from the plate in the door jamb & the number on the firewall lip & I'll decode the whole car for you. Billy
Because its a 63 1/2 the codes for 1964 apply here.. the door tag will give you the rest of the info Colorr ,interior etc
Marcus I know the 289 C code was available in 64 but I figured he copied the number wrong, like he put C when it's really a G . Billy
I knew that you knew about ya know.......hehehe.... I didnt even really read your replu until after I posted mine...If that was a G Code I would have told him it was a 289 and the offered to buy it!!
Thank you all so much. Here is what I could make out of the # on the door itself. This number was located just above the VIN # that I already listed. Please note the gaps between #'s represent spaces. 63B M66 06 There appeared to be more but I couldn't read them. The hood hinge # matches the VIN on the ***le of car. This 63B # is color code maybe? Thanks again I love you all for this!
63B is the body style 2 dr fastback..M is the color code Silver Smoke Gray the rest is not right your missing a bunch of numbers.. Body Color Trim Date DSO Axle Trans 63B M ? ? ? ? ? Vehicle Warranty number=VIN
Wait a minute... I am confused. {Had to edit.} I think I may be retarded or VIN challenged. So the car is M meaning wimbeldon white? Or is it silver like stated before. ok is this right? the # 3U66C164740 3=1963 U=Louisville 66=Black/black Vinyl? C=289 then what is the 164740? Someone said silver? wouldn't the M make it white? (off door plate?) - I dunno; total newb just learning about cars. I like the old cars because they are made of METAL!
