I recently purchased this from an estate sale of an early Ford collector and am wondering if maybe this is an early patent model or mock up to make the mold for the initial casting. It’s cast aluminum and wood with beeswax and I’m not sure what to think of it. Any info would be appreciated IMG_2326.jpeg IMG_2328.jpeg IMG_2329.jpeg IMG_2327.jpeg IMG_2328.jpeg

Apparently someone has taken an original valve cover, cut it in pieces then stretched it in both length and width to allow it to be used as a plug to cast new parts.

If the increase in dimension is 6-8% (about how much cast ally shrinks) then I reckon you are right.

    Cheers,

All the patterns I make for use in sand casting aluminum are 102% of final size.
