okay kids...here's the problem...I'm doing this show...an exhibit of my two photo projects - one is about car clubs around so. cal...

I lost one of the clubs I was shooting...from the high desert - the black jacks (don't ask, it's long, overly dramatic and idiotic and involves an ex).

and I can't get a hold of the replacement club I'd found from Riverside, the Dead Sleads.

so I need a club from either of those areas - Victorville/Barstow/high desert area around there or (preferably) Riverside to complete my project. and I need them FAST. I've got 5 weeks to get this finished and I'm still working on another club's shots, too.

the club needs to have good customs, at least one or two with nice paint jobs, preferably heavier on customs than rods, I don't care if they're a newer or older club.

I'm going to be expanding this project into a book later on as well, so they'll get their cars in that, too. plus they'll get into the show on Aug. 26 for free if they want to come to it.

PLEASE if anyone knows any clubs that might fit the bill, get me their contact info ASAP!

otherwise, my project isn't going to get completed in time.
    THANKS!

i think you need to offer up some BBQ,or doughnuts and coffee,or something.

hanging around for a photo shoot can be a drag :(

unless you have lots of scantily clad lingerie model-type gals that are gonna pose with the cars :D

Yeh, Pony up sister! Our club just got chumped on a photo shoot. These cat never showed up. This **** cost me a day off work. Our p.o.s cars cost a lot of our hard earned tuna and a lot of our time. Put out some bait sister! Maybe some body will bite. Unless these cats got rainbow stickers on their rods, a big set of "cans" or big cans-o-beer can go a long way. If you want quality cars at this point of the game you'll need to bring something to the table, make it worth a day off work!

Too bad you lost the Black Jacks, cool club with some really nice cars...always made a good showing at the HAMB chops.

uhhh...thanks for the input...but I'm doing this as an art project and so far all the clubs that have participated have been more than happy to help me out. it takes about an hour to an hour and a half of their time and they've been more than cooperative and helpful!

this is not some big budget commercial shoot. this is coming straight out of my pocket because I'm dedicated to doing this project and expanding it into a book.

I am actually also giving each of the people who have participated an 8x10 print of whichever image I choose as the final for the show. several of them have told me it wasn't at all necessary, that they were just honored that I picked their cars. I'm still giving them the 8x10.

I've also already hooked back up with the club from riverside...so don't need another one - at least right now.

I WILL be needing additional clubs in the future for the book.

so if anyone has any ACTUAL information they'd like to share with me, please do.

  6. You're project is no doubt all SoCal? When you're ready to climb out of the box drop me a note, I can probably hook you up with several hard core clubs within a days drive.

that WAS "actual information" in my opinion.
i've been asked about using my car to be photographed/filmed,supposedly i should be "honored" that they want to use my car.
i built my car for ME,not YOU,so the least you could do is offer me a cup of coffeee and a donut after i get up at the crack of dawn and drive out to the ridiculously remote "location" and end up sitting on my *** for 3 hours while the photog waits for "just the right light"

well, sorry you don't want your car shot...but that's not my problem - if you didn't want to participate, then you shouldn't have, next time stay home and let people who want to be there have their cars photographed. sometimes photography takes a while to get just right, you should have realized that before you agreed to the shoot.

I usually only take about an hour, sometimes about an hour and a half to do these shots. This isn't some big commercial project with a big budget being paid for by some corporation. I'm poor, and I'm working on this as a personal art project so I can't afford to feed everyone whose cars I'm shooting - sometimes I can barely afford the film and processing costs. I'm eternally grateful to those people who have participated in what I'm trying to put together, they have been beyond kind and helpful to me and I can't thank them enough. I'm giving them each an 8x10 of the final shot of their car, that's all I can do - and that comes straight out of my pocket.

and that wasn't the kind of information I needed, thanks. so if anyone else has anything HELPFUL to share with me, let me know. thank you.

ummm, you said you're planning on making into a book. so if you're trying to make money, you do need to offer something. mabye something as simple as a set of photos for each owner's car.

I've never asked anyone to take a day off work. I work around their schedules. I'm doing this completely as a personal project, see the reply I posted below. If you don't want to participate, that's fine, don't.

Well, I'm HOPING I MIGHT make a little money from the books....but since I've already spent over $5,000 dollars on the two projects I'm doing up to now...and will be spending far more than that to continue it as a book, I'm not exactly getting rich from any of this. I'm doing it because of my love for So. Cal.'s car culture. and I AM offering each owner an 8x10 of the final shot of his/her car. and if it's possible (in other words if I can afford it or the publisher lets met) I would like to give each of them a copy of the book...which probably won't be finished for at least a year or two.

This is not a commercial enterprise. It is a fine art project. I cannot afford to offer much. If you don't want to help me, that's fine, don't. But please only reply to me if you have something helpful for me.

by the way...I've already got my riverside club back on track.

thanks for none of your help.

I realize that having your car photographed takes your time and effort. I realize that your cars have taken your time, effort and money. SO DOES MY PHOTOGRAPHY. I have expended an enormous amount of time, effort and money for this project. I'm going to be expending a great deal more of all three in order to continue this project.

I'm doing this art project out of my love for cars. I am a car person, too. I'm trying to do something that is both for and about the car community of So. Cal. Yes, I am hoping that I will be able to sell copies of the book. I am hoping that I will be able to sell a few prints at my show. But I am not expecting that either of those will even begin to pay me back for the out-of-pocket expenses I've already incurred or will incur. Nor for my own time and effort.

If you don't wish to participate, then don't. But please stop trying to tell me what a selfish ***** I am for asking for help in this endeavor.

And just FYI, the reason I lost the Black Jacks is because I used to date and was friends with one of them and he's decided that he'd rather be an ***hole than let me finish shooting his club. It's a personal issue between us...not because of anything to do with my actually shooting the cars.

All the other clubs I'm shooting have been sweet, kind, helpful and cooperative. I've even made several new, good friends a****st them.

Believe me, the next time I need help with anything to do with my projects, I WON'T be coming to the H.A.M.B. for it. I'm sure you'll all be very pleased to hear that.

yes, the book/exhibit I'm currently working on is about So. Cal. and the car culture that was started and is being carried on here.

However, if this book is received well then I'm hoping to do a second one that includes Car Clubs nationwide.

So thank you for your info...if you wouldn't mind, please email me at my regular email address with any club names and contacts you have....I'd love to talk to them about a possible future book.

    thanks again!

How many of you guys have had cars featured in magazines? Did you get paid for those? Do they write you royalty checks for every copy sold? I bet you're even a subscriber, so really you're paying them....

    Don't be such ***holes.

ya know what? I'm not a brat. I'm actually a grow up - which is more than I can say for you - who was looking for a little help from some other car lovers.

if you don't want to help me, that's your business. That doesn't mean you ought to be rude and bitter.

Introduce myself? I think I pretty much covered what I was doing and needed in my original post. what, do you want me to take you on a date first?

and to the ***hole who said, "I think we know why he's an ex" you know NOTHING about me or my ex. You know NOTHING about what happened between us, so **** right the **** off, 'kay?

you guys wanna put me thru some sort of hazing just so I can find what I need? **** off. I don't have time for your ********. I'm trying to actually achieve something.

have a ****ing nice day, all of you.

did you even bother to READ my post? I'm giving them all a professionally printed, crystal archive fujicolor 8x10 print of their car - that's all I can afford, and I can't actually even really afford that. Some people actually just wanted to help me out. Amazing, isn't it, that there are actually people in the world willing to just help one another without being paid for it.

If I actually get the book done, it's going to take me about 2 years at least to complete. All out of my own time and pocket, and that's on spec, I have no guarantee that it will ever even be published. Now, if you still think I'm doing this as some sort of money making scheme you're an idiot.

I'm unprofessional? I put out an honest plea for help from one car lover to others. and all I got in return was a bunch of people telling me they wanted something for it and jumping down my throat for what OTHER photographers have up them thru, and only one guy with any sort of relevant, helpful info.

If that's the kind of at***ude you all have, then you wouldn't bother to buy the book or come see me show, anyway.

Can you fly me out to Cali for the book signing or the movie? I'm a poor photog over here on the other coast that would want to buy either.

show means art exhibit, not movie. and I can only hope that the book will do well enough for there to BE a book signing someday.
