I just picked up a t-56 out of a 97 camaro ss for what I think is a pretty good deal. Wanting to put it behind an older small block chevy. Been doing some research, but can't find any good info. Is it better to convert it to manual or leave it hydraulic? What flywheel and clutch combo will I need? It seems like it will bolt to the back of the block no problem, but I don't know where to go from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

    Hey Josh,

I put a T-56 in my 1994 Impala SS (conversion from auto). I have heard good things about these guys. I'm sure they could answer your questions.

With the centerforce flywheel, do you use the stock clutch kit and hydraulic setup from the camaro?

Keisler is a good source www.keislerauto.com as mentioned above as well as www.ddperformance.com. I got my trans from them and was able to use all stock components behind a bbc. I ended up using a Lakewood scatter sheild and Ram flywheel but stock components will work. Even used the manual throwout bearing and still have the original pedals in the car. 1,800 rpm at 80mph is one way to get some gas mileage out of a bbc.
