ive got a 29 frame i can make out most the vin # but a few are kinda worn is there anything to do to make them more legible? or if you might know how many alfa#s theres supposed to be it would help out a bunch
Try tracing over it with a pencil to get some graphite in the grooves, then place a white sheet of paper over that, then rub the paper with your finger to apply some pressure to it, then lift it like Sherlock Holmes taking fingerprints. If you can't read backwards, use a mirror.
There's a number on the frame? Where is it? I've never noticed one on my frame, so now I'm real curious.
I'm going off my 28 Ford... that is if you are referring to a Ford... You should have the letter A then 7 numbers after that. If you got the original 4 banger sitting around it too had the numbers which should be on the left (drivers) side of the block. The stamping could be filled with paint grit grease etc. Strip it with paint stripper (don't Sand it) clean it real good... then take some chalk and rub it into the stamping. If it is down to the metal you can wet your finger and rub it. And read the numbers before it drys.
on the drivers side between the first cross member and firewall i know its a very big spot its closer to the cross member but its there
