I got my '46 Ford up and rolling in it's shorty pick-up guise. Could someone put a step side bed on it for me? If only to have proof that I'm not crazy! My wife of course will disagree no matter what . Plan's are taller tires in the front to help fill the wheel wells, white steelies w/57 Ford poverty caps, and an 8 ft bed with 35-37 ford pu fenders. I was cleaning out the garage and found the 8 ft long garage door box, so I ran over to the truck and kind of mocked it up. Thanks in advance for the help. Karl
Karl, look for some of Eggman's posts---he's got a couple of shorties like that. oh, and while you're at it---keep an eye on that cardboard! Stinky the Austin bum is still around somewhere!
The trick with COE pickups is getting the bed the correct height for the cab. Most PU's have the top of the bed line at the bottom of the side window, but that's hard with a COE because the panel under the doors add a few extra inches. Photoshop experiments could really help here (and maybe add a smaller wheel opening on the front, too). Good luck.
"The trick with COE pickups is getting the bed the correct height for the cab" That's my biggest concern. I'm thinking I may run stake sides like the Bonnevile Chevy COE to transition from the bed sides to the cab. I think he must of spliced on 1/2 ton wheel openings to by the primer over the wheel.
Hey Karl, what are your plans for the semaphore that was on your COE. After purchasing two, & they not being correct, i've come to the conclusion, the one my truck had on it, was like the one that was on your truck. It's pictured in a GMC Truck Accessory Catalog, I recently found on ebay.
After seeing the '46-48 Ford-style woodie bed, I won't even try to do a Photoshop rendition. I think it's fantastic.
