thanks alot for getting the word out. lets hope between us we can save the majority of this treasure before it is destroyed and gone forever. i'll pass the word to my non-HAMB friends who might be able to go out there and save some. if you can get some pics that would really ROCK!!!
Thanks for the info. I'll be there next Saturday. Hey, hows about an intro and filling out your bio Brad
WTF is it with the EPA these days????? They have all but crushed all the good old car wrecking yards in this state, did the Auto Recyclers lose the war on capital hill?? What happened to the Dismantle and Auto Recycler lobby???....Not enough money??? Lost interest.... How can the EPA have so much control over private or commercial collectors and physically come on your property and crush your personal property??? Maybe we need to form a Collecter Car Survival Organization.....
We got the same shit going on over here. These treehugger shitholes are nothing but parasites make a living out of Joe Averages wallet. It's a shame that they take away the old mans stuff. They have no sense for real history, except they can squeeze money out of it. I hate these suburb, modern times, careless, SUV driving, jogging, salat eating, Hilfiger wearing tennis playing bastards.
I'm sure it's been done before and all that, but maybe we need to start or continue writing numerous letters and petitions and crap to try to stop this. People have mentioned before how the HAMB is something like, 5,000 people... I'm sure everyone on here who actually gives a shit about old cars and history would participate. It really makes me sad thinking about all the usable cars and parts that are being scrapped for no good reason. There's gotta be something we could do. Derrick
There is... Go get a few junkyard cars and fix 'em, sell 'em, trade 'em... but SAVE 'em. Did you guys ever think about the day, sometime in the future, when the LAST automobile, in the LAST junkyard, is crushed. Yes, it's all about greasing the wheels of public officials. You want to stop the yards from getting cleared out. Give 'em a reason to save 'em. Go into a junkyard and find a spotted owl nesting in a '56 Olds, or find some rare, engangered plant. Hell, just a couple years ago, a bridge project got moved, down-river, because they found some purple flower. That's some powerful shit. Put Greenpeace on our side... Just don't mention all the oil, gas, and antifreeze soaking into the ground. Ever wonder... why yards aren't "required" to drain fluids before "storing" a car? Who the fuck makes the rules and does the thinking? What it comes down to is: We're the few and they're the many... and, we need to get public officials into hotrodding. Just because most of us would rather see rows of junk cars in a junkyard instead of rows of paintings in a museum, doesn't mean that's how everyone thinks. I think golf courses are a sick and disgusting waste of land, and the guy in the plaid trousers hates to look over the fence on the 8th green and see 40 acres of rusty cars. The answer. Shoot that fucker! That's right... kill him. Take your son's AK-47 and blow his head off for having a different idea than you... or... get in the yards and get the cars out. Make a few bucks... save a few cars... go to heaven and sit at the right hand of the Lord for your efforts on Earth. If you can't move cars, then go get parts. It's all like little pieces of gold. Spend a buck... make two. Some of the best memories I have of my dad are of trips to junkyards to get parts for the coupe. That was when '67 Mustangs were "parts" cars. Take your son, or daughter, to go parts chasin'. Their little hands can really get into small places to hold screws and bolts while you loosten 'em, too. The day WILL come when there are no yards. The Treehugginforrestfairyberrypickers(tm) will see to that. ...unless you get 'em into a '41 Willys gasser for their daily driver, then they'll have to save the yards. THAT'S IT!!! We need to RALLY at the White House!!! Who's in? *SAVE THE JUNK***SAVE THE JUNK***SAVE THE JUNK* JOE
[ QUOTE ] Did you guys ever think about the day, sometime in the future, when the LAST automobile, in the LAST junkyard, is crushed. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah. It was July 12, 1986. There hasn't been any old steel in a junkyard anywhere near here for 20 years. There is not an infinite supply of old cars out there, save what you can.
I don't understand how this whole thing works. Crushing old vintage cars yet leaving piles of late models everywhere. There is a yard close to me with at least 1000 late models in it just dripping tons of crap into the ground and run off into the creek. How in the hell to these yards keep from being shutdown? I did my part yesterday..... I just saved a 51 chevy sedan delivery from going to the crusher. ---------------------------------------------------------- "OPOSSUM BENDERS" Central Missouri Chapter
