    Tuck n roll 1" pleats

Which do you like better and why? I am getting ready to get my interior done and have not made up my mind. It is a 1962 pontiac tempest that I am putting together. Cool vanilla bottom with a gold micro flake roof. Thanks for playing.

I vote tuck n' roll because it just looks classy. I think it's just my personal experience with diamonds... but i've seen a lot of 70's "customs" (vans, gremlins, ugly lowriders, big fat 70's cruisers) with them and they just scream 70's.

I know diamonds have been around since the 50's (?)... but to me personally it just screams 70's... unless you put them in a Model A or T or something...and even then...

    Just my 2 cents

  3. it depends on the over all look of the car. Let's see what you're upholstering.....

I voted for tuck and roll. for some strange reason I always thought of tuck and roll fit better with customs, where diamond pleats fit hot rods and drag cars. Just my opinion. You are building a custom, aren't you? My dumb**** just****umed you are.

Yep, it depends on what the style of the car is. I love diamond pleats, heres my new seat/door panels.

Diamonds just look too busy for me,especially when done all over the interior. Another alternative would be machine made pleats-I think they're about 1.5". Lots of places, like JC Whitney offered them in the 60's and low-budget rodders probably bought the material to do their own interiors, so it'd be period correct. Last I looked, Gary's Upholstery carried this material.

  9. My '55 Chevy has the classic mid 70's diamond tuck and vintage at that might I add (needing replaced translated) and when I was a kid in the late 70's that is what I dreamed of as my wish list on a piece of paper tucked safely in my small coffee can with mowing and paper route money. Now, its a no brainer to which the car will get.
I agree, I always liked tuck and roll in the customs and diamonds in the "competion" machines, obviously from reading the mags of the time no doubt.

If you're doing white then Tuck and Roll.
If it's black, then diamonds. Of course this still depends on the total look of the car and what era you are going for. Since it's a '62 Diamonds would be my pick since they were very big in the late 60's. Just don't over do it. I have diamonds in my '32 but they will eventually say goodbye for more of a late 50's look. my .02

I have been leaning towards pleats, but I am thinking of gold not white. You know gold for the honey.
