For me its all about getting there in a hurry. Wide gaps are better although it has always taken one helluva coil to widen the gaps very much with a points ignition.

I'm guessing that you are probably right, I'll probably stay with a sprial wound low resistance wire.

Tommy do us all a favor if you will and post a pic or two of your ride. Unlike one of my old hoopties (beaters?) your old beast is a perfect example of looks over 2 HP on the dyno. Some of the new guys don't know what you drive or why it should say Packard 440 @ eye level.

Im guessing mine are generic kragen sold wires.

I am running the crane cam electronic ignition. What wires would be best?

Sorry to disappoint you but this is what I'm building to be a 1959-1960 weekend warrior. I was a teenager then and this is what I remember. We called them sleepers. all go and no fluff. (It will look much better when it's finished)

Here's the power plant with the Packard 440 wires which will be backed up with a 3 on the tree OD. State of the art for a Ford of that era.:D You should be able to hear it coming.

What I remember from that era was the mild customs ran the red or clear see through stranded wires. The guys that kicked ass on Sat night ran Packard 440 with Rajah clips. To me they are every bit as big a hotrod icon as Stromberg 97s.

You'll just have to use your imagination.:D

  5. I heard that was what was going on at your place. The wife and I raced a '55 with a 312 through our Junior and senior year. Started out as a sleeper but we got too involved and although it remained street legal it really wasn't a streeter any more.

There isn't anyway to build one period correct without all the right stuff.

Unfortunately I just don't have the patience.

As someone stated here packard 440 wires raise hell with TV's and radio's. But I used it anyway in the day, now I use modern wires.
