Features Plush and Padded

I have seen these swivel seats on many old customs. How are they mounted? Are they stable or do they rock back and forth or side to side?

 

GM had them in production vehicles in the 70s also have seen them in conversion vans.

 

I'm showing the engine bay because is "Plush and Padded"

I always thought they were from the early, four seat, Thunderbirds..

 

I'm****uming this is it. My pics are from 2020. Needed reupholster at that time and appears owner did just that. Cool car, if I remember, running a 261 straight 6 ... sounded greeeaaaat.

Yes, I have been sewing up the interior on my 49 coupe. I wont sidetrack this "thread" with build pics. I will add some updates on doing the interior, to the not frequently updated post I have on the coupe. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1949-chevy-sports-coupe.1022883/
But the interior is 64 t-bird. I have been doing it myself, learning as I go. If you look back in the plush and padded, here Plush and Padded you will see my 47 Chevy coupe interior that I did. That was practice for the 49 On the t-bird seats, for the inserts I used NOS 1962 GM fabric. I kept the pleat lines going all the way thru, from the seat bases/front skirts, across the seat faces and down the seat backs. Homage to how the t-bird has its sew lines, except the t-bird was only on the seat faces. I've done the same to the door panels. Have the rear tray and center console still to do. Anyway, I will update the 49 coupe thread later this week. The interior has taken way longer than I expected, but I am starting to see it come together.
