  10. Here's a pic in honor of my late friend Jim Stanley (stanlow69). He did the spare tire cover in my non-HAMB friendly Merc. E

Also in honor of Jim, he did the headliner in my Chevy back in 2009, in time for me to make my first indoor car show in Sioux City IA. I bought the white 'perforated leatherette' off of ebay. I took the car to his house, got to see his small shop (detached garage) with all the pictures of kustoms stapled to the wall. He did a great job. I recall him telling me it was a little difficult because there wasn't much material on the edges to work with, requiring some extra careful stretching. He told me "next time, don't buy one, just let me make it". Great advice from a pro!

10 years later I got invited to be part of the Calvacade of Customs at Omaha World of Wheels. I had been cruising around all those years with a crappy, folded-for-shipping, black cardboard/fiberboard rear package tray that I also "bought online". I made a cardboard pattern for where I wanted my speaker holes and gave it to him so he could match up the style of stitching on the Delray interior. This is what he came up with. I love it.

Not much meat between where the speaker grill is close to the rear glass, but Jim, the pro, made it work perfectly. Even complimented me "you're a good pattern maker".

Because I'm cheap and I had it stored in my parent's attic since 1980 something, I used the ill-fitting black carpet that I bought from JC Whitney. I had talked to Jim about doing some nice quality, classic black with white piping carpet for the Chevy, but sadly, that will not happen.
