I was contacted this morning by a first time poster on HAMB concerning disposition of the remaining inventory of Plydo out of West Virginnia. They have been out of business for about ten years but, according to the contactor, the family is getting ready to sell of the remaining parts from the warehouse. The person who contacted me is not part of the Plydo family but gave me a name of the person handling the sale and said he could be contacted via Facebook. Before I go any further do any of you have any current information on Plydo?
Abe, same thoughts I had so I ask the guy who contacted me for his phone number and address. He was a first time poster on HAMB. He responded this afternoon with both and I called him. He answered and we talked for about a half hour. He gave me the name of another guy on Facebook that has mopar stuff for sale, Chuck Mineo, of 30's, 40's Dodge Chrysler Ply. I will follow up both the Plydo lead and the Mineo lead and let you know.
If this comes to p***, I would be interested in seeing what might be available for 51-52 Plymouth Suburbans.
Ply-do hasn't been conducting business for a very long time. Anything that is still there may well be in very questionable condition. They used to have some pretty neat stuff, but then just sort of disappeared. I'm wondering why someone representing them contacted you, after the business has been closed for so long, did you post a "wanted ad" someplace? Things just don't add up very well. Tread carefully.
The person who contacted me, Jay Vincent, ran across an old post of mine on the HAMB wanted section looking for some 33 Dodge steel fenders. He is in Texas and has nothing to do with Plydo. He was searching Facebook for some parts for a 32 Desoto he owns and found a post by a John Blankenship who was helping the Plydo family sell off what was still in their warehouse which they had sold to John's brother-in-law who is going to use the building as a welding shop. I talked by phone with Jay for quite a while yesterday and he seemed like a stand-up guy but I can't vouch for that beyond what I learned by phone. Other than his interest in acquiring some parts for his 32 he has no connection to the Plydo remaining parts sell off. He simply told me to try and contact Blankenship via Facebook to see if there might be some fenders in the building. I am not having much luck so far finding a Facebook connection to Blankenship. Jay did say that Blankenship didn't know much about the parts in the building and was asking for part numbers so he could check to see if something might be there. Apparently there also is a room full of manuals and repair books which could be checked to see if a specific manual is there. Jay also said I might try contacting a Chuck Mineo who sells parts for 30's; 40's and 50's Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouths. I haven't sent anybody any money and I won't. If I ever get in contact with any person involved with this I will arrange a quick trip to West Virginia to see the parts.
Thank you for the rest of the story. It makes sense, to me anyhow, how you got there. All Best, and Good Luck finding relatively scarce pieces.
I was able to contact John Blankenship out of Varney, West Virginia via Facebook. He is indeed handling the sale of the remaining parts in the old PLY-DO warehouse. He did not have the 33 PD front fenders or any suspension parts. He does have other parts. He will only communicate via Facebook so you will have to look him up if you want to check on availability. There were lots of John Blankenships but only one in Varney. Good luck.
