I found a hardtop like yours in a junkyard in Evanston, Wyoming on Thursday. I will take some pics the next time I go there.
How's winter in Uruguay? Still Cruising? Your roads (even in town) seem challenging. Is lowering an option? Personally, for decades, cut coils and blocks have given me the most bang for the buck. (Ain't nuthin' like seeing all that mass closer to Mother Earth! What a thrill! )
Weather is not that bad, I mean the car spent most days in the garage but when it's sunny it still cruises !. Roads are not that bad, it's been less than a year that my street was turned into tarmac,as most nearby areas are so it's not a big issue, I will lower it for sure!
The plymo is waiting for its new grill and blocks in the rear to lower it, the roofless is waiting and will be for a while, pilars are real weak, gotta reinforce and haven't started up the 230 yet.
Thanks for following the build 'Mo ! I've been busy studying and working, plus I started to take the leaf springs out to check everything and lower it, found a crack in the chassis and had some bolts rusted that won't come out. When I get paid I'll fill the oxy-acetilene and get it on the streets again. BUT LOW AND SOLID! haha
Well, finally got some time to work on the car, it's sitting a bit lower, I feel that's the perfect stance for now. Or at list the one I feel it's nice. Just took off a few leafs and changed the broken ones. Before and After photos.
Put those headlight rings, next thing is figuring out the desoto's grille, it's not that similar as the plymo but it will fit.
Both cars were originally brown cars so maybe that's a signal, I was thinking about all black but as I'm not building a cliché car I'm not doing that. Anyways I got to repair lots of body rust before any real paint happens, I got time to think about that.
Almost forgot, some folk caught us driving to the meeting and took this photo (found them on a local facebook group)
Desoto's grille meets plymo, it has a twist that I hate so I'm dissasembling the grille to fix it and anyways it needs chrome haha. what do u think about that look with the 53 turn signals? Also found this filter in the stash, it is what I call in spanish a "requeche", that means the base, the filter and the top part are all gathered from different filters haha, no money invested on it. Just had to modify the bottom to match the carb.
The grille's gonna' look good with the '53 turn signals, and your right, it can use a little straightening
X3 on the lights. I think it will need something to fill the space underneath, however. Do you have the lower grille shell bar? I have taken a pic to the Photoshop thread to see how it would look with and inverted upper bar. Hopefully someone will give it a go.
Yes I have two lower grille shell bars, I think i'm using the one that came with the plymo. Glad u like it, I felt a bit sorry about cutting the grille but as I have the NOS turn signal lenses I needed to use them haha.
I always loved the 53/54 Plymouth. My mother had a convertible up until 1965 that had the original top and spare tire
Man that desoto grill doesn't work at all, you should box it up and send it to me! Actually it's gonna be great hopefully you understand I'm joking. I know English is not your primary language.
The RHD Aussie cars used the same bodies through 1957. Here is another example, a 1956 Aussie Plymouth Cranbook.
