I have been looking hard for outside rubber and felt for my 55 plymouth 2 door suburban. Steele has windshield and vent window rubber, but nothing else. And mine is all bad. I really need to take it out to clean up some rust, but I have to have something to put back. Even a good universal is nobody make specific to my car. Can any body point me in the right direction. I am about to go to paint, this is the last hurdle.
You can try Gary Gores. http://www.garygoers.net/home.php Also check out the Forward Look Forums, lots of good info there. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/category-view.asp
I actually came across an old site with his name and address, no Number. At least this site has a fax line to contact him. I was writing him a letter. Imagine that. A letter. Thanks for the info.
This one is easy. Steele Rubber Products. www.steelerubber.com. These guys rock! best rubber parts on the market. (fyi...avoid Soff Seal or Metro....****, ****, ****).
Clesters is where I got most the weatherstripping for my 59 Plymouth. www.clestersauto.com or 1800-457-8223 Good luck. Gary
I got all of the rubber for my '65 Plymouth wagon from Restoration Specialties in Windber, PA. Great guys to deal with and tons of hard to find partsL: http://www.restorationspecialties.com/
Steele does NOT have the rubber for the wagon windows, but does for the front w/s and doors - I know, because I have a '56 Ply 2-door wagon and have checked. Two-door Sedan door rubber is the same as the 2-door wagon. Clester's web page is jacked up - you can't bring up anything listed under Mopar. You and I are in the same boat there, Brandon!
I don't know if this will help but you may want to try an Auto upholstery supplier if you have one locally,I got weatherstripping for a lot less than the specialty suppliers charge, they sell it by the foot and they had a LARGE display board with all the different shapes to match it up with.If you can't find any you might cut off some small samples of the old for comparison and send it to these folks:H&R Sales 1118 N.35th Ave. Phoenix,AZ 85009 PH (602)269-6131 ask for Sherrie May, they have an online site so they are set up for shipping.
I ran into a similar issue looking for 57-8 Ford wagon rear side window rubber. It wasn't available, but a guy I knew had a limited run of 12 pairs done by (i think) Dennis Carpenter. He had to supply the sample, and it was $300 a pair to us. Alot of money, but when you have nothing, what do you do?
I have the same problem...1950 Plymouth 2 door suburban.. can find everything but the slider window...Been looking for 2 years... Jason
