My buddy picked up this bumper Jack for me a while back, I have it in storage right now but I’m wondering if someone can identify this gem. It just seems right to refurbish and use old service equipment when working on a early fifties car. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I've only used the 1970s version, and it was in the 70s-early 80s. Nice jacks, they won't work on modern cars, which is a plus
They work great on a car with the right bumper. My guess would be a Walker brand based on the color but that's a guess at best.
These Jack's work great on the rear of pickup trucks and they are fantastic for working on frames. Put one at each end of a frame and lift.....then you are working at waist level on all those annoying details that make your back beg for mercy. Raise the whole car when working on the floor board and need to lean inside. Raise the whole car and put some tall stands under it and you have plenty of room to slide underneath to work. They ain't just bumperjacks in my shop!
That’s why I was so happy to get it. [emoji41][emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Had a body man try to pickup a car with no front bumper using the frame horns and one of these jacks. He would have probably been okay if he didn't run the jack all the way up. It went flying hitting him a glancing blow and knocking a couple of blocks out of the concrete wall. He was lucky and ended up with bruising only. I think he was the first guy I ever had to fire.
I've got one it was made by Gray Co. I believe. It's very handy to have in the shop. I use mine to lift from the side picking up from the rocker panel or frame rails. I use it for lifting from the end also.
