  2. I'm already on the hunt for a FI SBC and 700R4 or 4L60. I think I'm going to quit driving to Texas. It"s cursed.

Transmission started making noise around DFW area...made it to Waco and had to have it towed to Austin. Dropped the car at a friends shop and JK will be picking it up next week.

    Cool ride and bad luck.

  8. "Bad luck" is my middle name. The 1-2 planetary decided it was time to GTFO. I'm getting a crate 350 & 700R4 as soon as I get my wagon sold.

Sorry I missed you and the car this weekend. As much as I had once thought I would like a 56 Olds motor I have here in my "someday" Merc, the car I bought has a sbc and 700R4 and runs just fine. This weekend was it's first trip out further than 60 miles at a stretch and got 22+ mpg and smooth running. I don't think you will be disappointed. An vintage "cool" motor has a nice effect when you pop the hood, but when do you do that on a Merc? ;)

  11. Sorry Fraz, a friend of mine had dibs on that motor about 10 seconds after I finally got to the fairgrounds. Looking at the prices of GM crates, I may have to sell it afterall.
