Hot rod and never look back. If you recall I PM'd you awhile back about the truck when you first put it in the cl***ifieds. I was contiplating a clone of my college machining instructor's '39 truck that had a 425 dual quad Buick with a T-400 and a 9" rear. He was a fabrication god and you would have thought that truck came from the factory with that engine and trans. I still harbor thoughts of making one of my own. Frank
Maybe something like this truck of Dan Collins, a cool hot rod with some wide whites............................ CRUISER
Like many other well respected guys on here said "HOT ROD" would be the proper way to go. But I would not chop the top like the greenish one. Just change the stance a little and give it an engine that lets everyone hear you before they see you.
Bob, I think even Collin's truck is really a hot rod at heart, nice rake, different size tires (yep, the bigger ones in back), don't know what Dan's intent was, but that pickup says hot rod to me. Oh, one more for HOT ROD. You can store the stock suspension bits if you feel weird about "molesting" such a nice old stocker. ....or sell 'em off to a resto-freak and buy some cool old 60's mag wheels!
Lenny: "Leave it alone, ya lunatic. You're the type of guy that looks at Laverne and says she needs the Pamela Anderson treatment: oversized fake ****s, bleach blonde hair, fake suntan, and a huge tattoo on the small of the back. That's why I'm Lenny, and you'll always be Squiggy."
I have to agree.... sounds like a damn fine idea to me... though a Nailhead would be righteous in that thing. If you need one just let me know... I have spares...
Hot rod....like everybody else that's got one of those trucks.. Don't forget to paint a fake garage/hotrod/speed shop name on the doors! I vote custom. Seriously. Excuse me, while I go hit myself in the head with a hammer.
I like that one as she is. But then again, I wouldn't have bought it to change it. I would had bought it to resell. But I can understand wanting a highway driver. If anything, I would lower it, change the rear end ratio and drive the wheels off of it. In my opinion, most custom trucks just don't hit the mark and become ugly real quick. That really is a nice stock pickup as she is.
Hot rod truck with rake, lots of it. To me nothing says "I used to be a truck and now I'm pretending to be a car" like a truck that's really low out back. So don't go kustom and make it an automotive transves***e. Be proud of it's truckness with some rake, cause that's how real hot rod trucks are setup....with enough rear spring to still be a truck, and enough motor to h***le hot rod cars. good luck
Dropped stance, like a California rake, big and little WWWs and a set of belly burners and you'll be golden. Drive train of your choice, of course.
I vote for mild hot rod, but please don't put a 350/350 in what ever you do, and if it's going to be a SBC, get an older one and make it look REAL nice. Personally, I think it looks a bit too nice to F up, so be careful.
I really like the headlights dropped down into the fenders like the cars. Not much for radical chops. Looks out of proportion IMO. There was a 38 or 39 in Cl***ic Custom Trucks, blue and bronze a year or so ago with suicided doors also. Made for an interesting look and very understated. My '38 on the other hand is going to be pretty stock appearance other than stance and deletion of the spare tire.
its gonna be a 1955 Chevy 265 fairly fresh build, with the powerslide trans of the same year.the old drive train is going in my buddys 40 Ford Sedan
