I've never been to one of these things before- I've only read about the Oakland show in a bunch of old mag's so I have a crazy picture in my mind of walking in and seeing Ala-Cart and the Golden Sahara up on turntables which is probably pretty far off. Anyway, what should I expect? Is it a half-day, all-day, or two-day thing? Will it be insanely crowded with "spectators" from the general public if I go at the wrong time? Is there a best day to go? What is different/better about this show anyway? (Some of you guys are driving a LONG way to see this thing and I just want to understand)
it's a combination outdoor roadster show, swap meet, vendors area and show of the reat of the cars in the preferred parking area. expect alot of people and alot of walking to see it all. it is a 2 day show so there isn't a really best time. it gets a little slow on sunday afternoon but it's all good. i drive from phx every year just for this show. jerry
are you talking about the Oakland show being held down in Pomona in two weeks? No one knows what to expect as this is the first year. If its in So-cal, it is going to be cool because everything down here is better. Expect big names and cool cars. Also expect this year's MBR car to ****.
Jerry;s got ya confused with the LA Roadster's club show.. This is the Grand National Roadster Show now in Pomona... It should all be indoors unless there's a lot of cool cars just rolling into the parking lots. I went to the 50th in the Cow Palace and they had the roadsters in the main arena and all the other kinds of cars in adjacent buildings. I'm going from Long Beach and taking the AstroVan and will take up to 6 people with. Still arranging which day. I want to go Friday before te crowds but may go Saturday instead, depending on a couple other guy's work. Email me if you're in LB and want to hitch a ride and split the parking fee! It's probably a one day you've seen it all thing, besides, it ain't cheap.
A neat tradition of the old Oakland show was its close: at the end of the show on Sunday, all the cars were fired up and left the hall under their own power. As you might expect, there was cool noise and occasional smoke and misbehavior. Anybody know if this tradition will be continued at Pomona?
Never went to the one in Oakland, and I dont think anyone knows what to expect with this one. I'll be there though, Sat and Sun, and the World Famous Mild Mitch too! We've been conscripted to spend time at the outrageous-spectacular concession booth of everyones favorite world media authority on all things traditional(something about ironing). We're spose to sell things and junk...look for two ****s, come by, say hi, buy something.
I'll be there probably on Saturday, I owe a beer or two to some of our east coast brethren... Nobody's mentioned it but this weekend is the Pomona Swap Meet as well. Looks like I'll be spendin' some time on I5 the next coupla weekends...

I am going and bringing my camera. I dont know if I am going in because by the time you catch up with all your friends in the parking lot, the day is over. I will get plenty of shots of the parking lot though. I just love paying to bring my hotrod to a show!
Here some pics of last years show http://www.vondrunk.com/fathersweb/ you can find some deal on the first day if you early, also you can drive in any cl***ic car there is special parking for that. I think it works out to about the same as paying parking and walking a mile to the show. As for the GNRS we'll see how it goes, my first one and in pomona! yippee!!

Contact: Dan Cyr ENTER HO SHOWS .COM THIS IS A DIRTY SHAME THAT A GREAT SHOW WITH A HISTORY OF THE OAKLAND ROADSTER SHOW IS HISTORY there is no secret how I feel about dan cyr and his lack of interest in HISTORY or HISTORICAL EVENTS! so take this with a grain of salt. the BIG names are going away and his shows are getting smaller. last year he advertised over 300 of the best for his portland show. and I have to say it was a pleasure walking around. I doubt that he had 200 and the aisles were spaced so wide that it was easy to walk around. I've talked with a few people that went, they were able to walk the whole show in 20 minutes and felt ripped off for the 21.00 that it cost to park and get in Yeah! dans doing great, soon he'll have more commercials than cars. In L.A. for the first time he can probably pull in more High School cars to fill the buildings and widen the aisles to make it look full. I WON'T BE AT ANY OF HIS SHOWS and its a shame because I like car shows Jim Arnold "The Old Car Gl*** Guy" 503-519-3443
whatever, hotrods should park free. People come to see them and pay to get in. Sorry, I have always thought that was ********. It was more expensive to bring a car to the primer nationals than walk in. That's cool. Let's face it, the best car shows are in your driveway on a Sat. night!
This is NOT the L.A. ROADSTER CLUB's Father's day SHOW LIke Abelugo has in the pictures below. It is NOT the Pomona Swap meet either so there won't be any free parking for "cl***ic cars" like there is at the swap meet. It IS the Grand National Roadster Show that has been in Oakland since 1949 and commonly referred to as the Oakland Roadster Show. but has been moved to Pomona. http://www.hotrodshows.com/shows.ihtml?show=Grand%20National The L.A. ROADSTER SHOW will still be in JUNE on Father's day weekend. http://laroadsters.com/ Any of you wanting to make a pilgrimage to that show now are CONFUSED! I slogged thru 8" of frozen snow and s****ed 1/2 inch of ice off my -3 windshield this morning to go to work once the clutch warmed up enough to grab, and that poor bastage is stuck in Hawaii guzzlin Primo and watching wahinis in bikinis. I really feel for him...
