HA!!!! ATTENTION?!!! I'm with you on this one... Who gives a shit about attention. These days nothing grabs attention like a giant bar of soap with 28" rims... Should I "build" one of those? ...

GM needs to file chapter 11 so they can cancel out those damn union contracts that are cripilling the automotive industry.

Your political ideology is blinding you. I was suckerd by the Obey, I mean Obama candidacy but, now I realize what a mistake I made in voting for him.

Mazooma, if you think I'm the only one who feels less than thrilled with the current administration, just go back to page one of this thread, and read again.

I liked the Aztec when I saw it for the first time on "Survivor"...but then I sat in one at the showroom, and heard that pathetic whine from the drivetrain, something more akin to a sewing machine with a bad bearing than an automobile!

...this issue transcends politics in the nature that we tend to argue them. Republicans, Democrats, they've really got nothing to do with this.

Our enemy is within: the banks and those that run them. Don't believe me? Look up what Abraham Lincoln had to say on the issue.

Regardless, that argument really doesn't have much to do here:d

That's just it. They weren't thinking. Had they designed a REAL Tempest/LeMons/GTO body, and made the ultimate one badged with GTO and "The Judge", they would have outsold Corvettes for a while. Opps, yeah, like Chevy/GM would EVER let that happen. See, "no thinkie it through".

lets hope the Chrysler reorganization works out, they sound optimistic. they had to reorganize under protection, it's the only way to get their shit back together. from everything i've heard they have every intention of reopening. to see them emerge from bankruptsy could really bring some optimism to the entire economy. I don't know why people seem suprised, the chrysler one has been coming for a long time. who does own chrysler now anyway? i know benz owned them for a while, and they sold it back.

Easy friend, those same people saved Mooneyes from being bull dosed to the ground by American bankers after Dean passed. They also hosted the the entire Burbank Choppers club and their vehicles in a show to celebrate the invention of the Hot Rod. What do you think it cost to ship the Choppers and their cars to Japan? I believe you would be pressed to find an American corp. that would spend that kind of cash on a Hot-Rod show. I am thankful to the Japanese for recognizing the valuable history of MOONEYES, and Hot-Rodding. In closing, I am fairly certain they are square with the house in regards to Pearl Harbor. The debt was paid in full along time ago...

  20. I Thought the death of pontiac was a fairly sad event....Then I realized this would mean no new firebird to join the new Camaro!!!!If that dosn't suck I don't know what does....Do you think g.m. could produce the pontiac firebird anyway???I mean were only talking of a few different bodyparts....
Besides.... they should of made a retro bodied G.T.O.
That would of kicked the ultimate amount of ass!!!!!!!!!!
What happens to all of those trademarks anyway???

Typically the owner (GM) sits on them, and when someone else uses it, they get sued. Happened a couple times before.

WWII has nothing to do with Pontiac being shutdown. The Japanese people have nothing to do with Pontiac being shutdown.

By your logic, I should also continue to demand subservience from Germany for WWII. Be honest, do you really think Governments act on the needs of the people? Or are things driven by a smaller groups need for continual financial success?

I have had the great pleasure of knowing and being related to many, many of those who served in the wars you spoke of, and none of them, absolutely NONE, have ever spoken poorly of those they fought. Soldiers, being soldiers, understand that there are no animosities in war, only enemies and objectives. Everything else is the creation of people who can't understand that.

In my opinion they were gonners 20 years ago when all the GM brands started using the same motors in everything. Why pay a few grand more for a rebadged chevy?

Now, that's the truth right there! The brand names haven't meant anything ever since they all became the same cars, built by the same designers in the buildings.

This is just the final step in those long ago acquisitions.

I know veterans on both sides, all of them carry a deep reverence about the war, it's a terrible thing, no matter what side you are on, but there are times when they are needed. a great majority of the people who fought in the wars have passed on now, we should never forget of course, but the war is long over, The fact is most japanese people love American culture, everything from blue jeans to Mcdonalds. they love old american cars, and they love our music, even though it probably sounds strange sung as Karaoki in Japanese. The best thing to happen after a terrible terrible war, is for people to heal and move on. It says in the bible we are to love our neighbors, and we are not supposed to carry hate. The Japanese cars were not the reason the American car companies fell, they produced a better product then we were selling, and people bought it, we could have produced a beter product as well, but we spent decades producing lots of junk. What happened to the American car companies was due to decisions made by them and by others with interest in them.

Since this threads gone straight to hell anyways, does anyone else ever wonder why the rich folks hate unions so much? Are they afraid of equity, or simply of not making as much money?

the unions got out of control, the original point of the union was to protect the workers against horrible factory conditions, low pay, etc. etc. they have become caricatures of their original reasons for existing. example, if someone sees a light bulb burned out at a plant, can't just put another one in and go on their way, have to call in the specific person to do the job, whatever happened to if you see it broke fix it,if you know how?
