If yours is a 1950 Olds rear axel, it is different for the 57 - 64 Olds / Pontiac axels. They look very similar, on the outside, but the earlier 37 - 56 Olds / Pontiac is smaller than the 57 - 64 axels. The 37 - 56 axels were fairly strong, though.

I swapped a 59 Pontiac rear axel into my 59 GMC. The ring and pinion, posi rebuild parts, and bearings, are from Fabcraft. Excellent guys to work with, and great service. My axel shafts are from Moser, with 6 lugs for the truck wheels.

Ironically, my 55 Chevy that I vintage drag race with, still has the 55 Chevy rear axel, while my GMC tow vehicle has the 59 Pontiac axel. LOL. I did swap in a 60 Pontiac axel into my 34 Chevy, drag car project though. Again, with Fabcraft parts, and Moser axels.
