pontiac distributor

got a 86 firebird 305 in my 52 plymouth has edelbrock intake and 600 carb want to know if i can use a chevy h.e.i distributor or if it has to be a pontiac, have the orginal distributor but it has the computer advace im pretty sure the chevy and pontiac are the same for this year, when i called speedway to get one they said they were different any info appreciated thanks hope everyone had a good 4th.
