    Howdy ya'll !

I'm a life long Pontiac guy. I've recently started doing some threads on a couple of sites about Pontiac Stock & Super Stock racing, past & present. Had a hard time finding race results, such as event wins, class wins, and national records.

Recently discovered an old thread here about Jr. Stockers. Although it was mostly about '55, '56, & '57 Chevy models, of all sorts, it did have some info/pics of other brands. Also had scattered lists of race results, class winners, & records holders.

Found some pics of Pontiacs. But, as I'm sure most here know, MOST of the pics that were posted are no longer visible, because they were posted using Photo Bucket, or some other pic hosting site. I've been combing thru that thread. But it's over 500 pages long, & most of the posts are now useless, because the pics can't be seen.

So, I'm starting this thread, dealing specifically with Pontiac Stock/Super Stock cars, from the mid '50's and up ? Would like to get all the race results possible that included a Pontiac event winner, class winner, or record holder.

I realize that MOST of the info I want was printed in the National Dragster paper. I got it for a few years, while we were racing Stock. But don't have those papers now. I assume that, as a group, the members here have a large portion of those papers, from last century.

So, I'd like to tap into these resources, and to post & have others post pics that will remain usable ?

Any help with this will be appreciated ! :)

If you find the "tools" button on your post, you should be able to edit the subject, to make it more like what you are seeking, such as "Pontiac Drag Racing Results". Then when folks see it, they can read your request, and hopefully post results that they might have. I know there are a few racing results in various other magazines, in addition to ND.

For posting pictures, several years ago the HAMB changed how photos are hosted on the site, and made it really easy to upload photos to be stored on the HAMB server. They are more likely to stick around than those hosted on 3rd party sites like PB. So, just make sure the image file is large enough to read, but not so large that it won't upload, and upload them here on this thread (UPLOAD A FILE button).

I was a Pontiac guy but I'm into el Caminos now.. The best Pontiac made was the 69-72 Grand Prix... Here are some interesting photos.. The OHV was Malcom Mackellar's.. Little tip, The MacKeller cams are some of the best you can use in a Pontiac..

Just make sure the focus stays 1964 and older on this post.

    Thanks.

( Google Arnie ( the Farmer ) Beswick and you’ll find some old Pontiac info )

" Just make sure the focus stays 1964 and older on this post..."

I'm sorry. I'm new here. That '64 cut-off date leaves out MOST GTO's & ALL Firebirds.

So maybe I posted this in the wrong section. I need info from all the 20th century, for Pontiac V8 powered Stock & SS cars.

I got the idea to start a thread on this forum, from looking thru a large portion of the LONG Junior Stock thread. That thread covers cars & races on up into the '70's models.

So, please inform me as to which section I need to post in, to get info from both before & after 1964.

I'm a long time Pontiac freek. So, I'm very familiar with Arnie Beswick, & many other famous Pontiac racers. What I'm looking for is race results, including event wins, class wins, & national records set. Also would like to discover some pics of Pontiacs, which I don't have. There were probably quite a few on that Jr. Stock thread, which can not be seen now, because of Photo Bucket & other pic hosting sites. So, this thread will include race results & pics.

I realize that most racers run Chevy, followed by Mopar, then Ford. But, there has been an enormous amount of info about those cars, on any car forum that covers racing, thru the years. There are quite a few guys who are really not that familiar with most of what Pontiacs have done, in drag racing. So, this thread should be very interesting to some here.

So, just tell me where I need to post the thread. Again, I'm not familiar with this site, so I don't know where this belongs.

The HAMB is a "Traditional" ERA Hot Rod and Custom Car Website from the 20's through 1964.

    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-h-a-m-b-rules-guidelines.44274/

No GTO's and Firebirds is correct.
I'm sorry but if you've come to see anything newer - you've come to the wrong website.
No Pony Cars - basically the Muscle Car Era of mid 60's on is not covered on the HAMB.

Anything prior to 64 is good.

Here is a outline Tutorial about the HAMB.

It says 65 on the tutorial but that's only for selling a car in the HAMB classifieds 64 and 65 having the same body style like the Buick Riviera etc.

    Hope this clarifies.

Just one question tho, I've been reading thru the Jr. Stock thread, for the last several days. There are LOTS of mentions & pics of late '60's Stockers. They talk about when Jr. Stock died in 1971, & what is was replaced with in 1972. So, is it OK for me to post & ask questions about cars that ran during the period they are discussing, which went thru at least '73 ?

Seems to be LOTS of members here who love that thread !

So, are you planning to delete that whole thread ? Or is it that you just do not want any new members joining in that discussion, which definitely includes cars racing AFTER 1964, and includes late '60's Musclecars, like Olds, Buick, Mopar, etc.

Not trying to be a smart alec. Just trying to jive what you're saying with what I'm reading on that thread. All I want are pics & info, which many of those guys have. Not here as a gate crasher. I'm just simply seeking info which these guys, have, as is indicated by what has been posted in the Jr. Stock thread. Is it possible for me to do this, if I promise NOT to post on any other threads here ?

Thanks for your consideration in this matter ! :)

    Hello,

Here are some old film clips of our 58 Impala vs a Pontiac, at Lions Dragstrip 1959-60 that I took. A friend took the Impala timed runs as I was standing next to the fence in the red Pendleton Shirt/Levis. The practice tuning runs were done using a set of Moxley Cheater Slicks. (note different rim color) there was a slight improvement using those slicks, but not enough to keep them longer than a week of dragstrip use and street use.

For the eliminations, we had to go back to stock and the races were close. Some young teen was driving and was not very fast off of the line. (nervousness) But, the strong Impala motor comes through in the end and wins both races. Yes! The silver wheel color Impala was me driving in the eliminations. My brother took those films.

I went through some of my Drag News copies and here are some results from the So Cal dragstrips. It was fun going through those old Drag News copies.

HAMB is into the pre factory super car era. I'm old enough to remember it. There was once a time when you had to build your own hot cars..
I wish there was a HAMB II that covered the 64 to 72 era but for the hands on gearhead that HAMB is about.. Most of the Super car forums are dry and when you bring up modifications, they shreek like a bunch of little school girls..

When we were little kids we couldn't walk up the street without looking inside a Pontiac or a Buick Rivera. There interiors seemed so magical, especially the 63-64 Grand Prix and Buick Rivera.. Here is a photo of my old 64 Grand Prix 421..

    Nothing beyond 64.

With over 300,000 members if we let one promise not to post anything else, we get 300,000 more promises of the same and the HAMB wouldn't be the HAMB of "Traditional" ERA Hot Rods and Customs from the 20's through 64.

The Jr. Super Stock thread started 12 years ago and as long as it keeps to 64 and earlier - no issues.

Starts to take a different direction into the Mid 60's into the 70's and posts will be deleted.
If your post disappears - that's the reason why.
Not hard to follow the rules.

We let one slip and it's green light for others to start off topic threads.

Again - if you are looking for anything beyond the Mid 60's - sorry but you come to the wrong website.

Yep - tight ship but that's what makes the HAMB as popular as it is for the last 20 years.

    Thanks

    :)

Believe me, by now, I read you loud & clear. If I wanna post anything that is not pre-64, or ask any questions of the guys who have answers to my post '64 questions, that is all prohibited.

    Got'cha !

Maybe this will be OK. If any of you guys have any info about '64 & later Pontiac Stock/SS drag racing, including race results & nat records from ND papers, & would like to share any of that info with me, please Email me. speedbarn455@gmail.com

If this post is not acceptable, please delete it.

    Thanks !

    Hello,

We lived in the Westside of Long Beach in So Cal. It was about 5 miles away from our high school and the nearby row of auto dealerships. All of us teenagers had driven by those dealerships at one time during the daily drives to the high school. As a senior, I even tried getting a sales job at the Pontiac dealership and the Chevy dealership that were next to each other. (very knowledgeable, more so that most sales people, but too young to sell to parents at age 18. So I was told.)

We knew some of the mechanics at both places and they usually gave us the scoop on what was what for their incoming fall sedan options.

Our local Pontiac dealership was more into family presentations, whereas up the roads about 10 miles was a Pontiac dealership that had plenty of options for Pontiac supporters and racers. In 1961-62, we had a friend not getting what he wanted in a new Pontiac two door Hardtop at the Long Beach dealer, so, he drove up those 10 miles to Suburban Pontiac in Bellflower.

    Jnaki

Our friend was a happy camper with his new, beautiful blue 2 door hardtop cruising and parking in the local drive-in parking lots to join in the teenage banter that happened every Friday and Saturday nights.

Look who has a “stock” 57 Chevy in the G/ Stock class. * Denotes a class record...
