Does anyone have a picture of the front engine mounts used for early Pontiac V8's and later I8's? Putting a 1960 Pontiac 389 in a 1953 Pontiac chassis. I have nothing to reference, but it appears that the lower portion of the timing cover of the 389 has ears for a front mount, right behind the lower pulley, and the I8 that was in the Pontiac I believe would have had a front mount. Any pics would be appreciated. I'm probably going to do a front mount for the 389 and then mid mounts at the bell housing. Thanks!
Here's what the motor mount bracket looks like, it was used for 55-58. Than a rubber mount bolted to that and the frame. http://www.pontiacsafari.com/MPC/Pages/page_0054.jpg The Hurst mount is for the 55-60 covers, that's what I used on my 55 on my 66 389, i'm using a 60 cover . Which also needs the middle factory bracket.
I think he means the factory Pontiac piece that is the front motor mount bracket. Goes from the bottom of the timing cover to the rubber mount bolted to the center of the Pontiac front crossmember. It's also supposed to be used [according to the Hurst instructions] when using the Hurst mount bracket..helps take the strain off the timing cover bolts when using the hurst mount bracket.. I need one too. For a 55-58 Pontiac.
YES! Was more interested in the factory piece. But now that everyone is posting Hurst stuff, the gears are turning upstairs. HAHA! Thanks guys!
