I have a '52 Pontiac that needs seats. Will a Chevy/Olds be a direct interchange? The Pontiac has the rear seat armrest... I'm not sure if a Chevy does... Anybody with a Hollander manual able to help?
Can't help you with what fits as the earliest seat interchanges my Hollander has start at 1955 and the early manuals don't show seats. Someone must have firsthand knowledge of what fits though.
Had one fella over at the AACA say a Chevy will fit... and a 50-51 Olds, too. May go hunting this weekend.
Using '60 Caddy frt seat in my '53 Poncho.........found one w/ no power, all manual. Rite width, neat seat. Poet, an don't know it ! Good Luck Smokey
I couldn't find seats in my Hollander, but, 49 - 52 Chevy, Pontiac and Olds 88 should fit and probably direct bolt in. Buick Special may also fit. These cars all used the same basic body.
The problem is Pontiac has an under-seat heater deal Chevy doesn't. The whole floorpan is different. But, as long as the feet are wide enough to clear the heater coils, or you could rip that **** out, most any seat should fit. 1980s GM car midsize and fullsize seats will fit, I had a '72 Skylark seat in one and it was almost a tad narrow; and my '50 I now have '64 Gran Prix buckets sitting in. Still have room for a console. Rear seat I'm sure any will work, top may be body-style specific, here again some late model seats will work - it's wide enough for most anything but the seat has to be notched to clear the wheelwells.
Just an FYI if you cant find a Chevy that fits. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=615201
Found a pair of seats in a local yard on Friday.... this guy has been saving the old stuff from the crusher....
So I got the two seats today... took 'em out of a '49 business coupe.... Now I have a problem... the front seat is fine... but the rear top cushion is too wide. My car has rear seat arm rests... can't remember if the coupe did or not. Gonna have to go back and see if it does... I kinda want to keep the armrests. Anybody ever have a similar problem? Here's the back seat cushion...should it be narrower or have a 'dogleg' to clear the armrest? Looks like someone was hungry...
Looks like it should although this arm rest looks to be quite a bit larger than the stock Poncho unit... Another shot of an awesome interior... These pix will go a long way to help ID all the interior trim that is in boxes and laying in the trunk...
Leather photo of 51-52 chevy hardtop looks like factory sized arm rests to me...yes the seat back has a factory dogleg. YOu get to make a choice...keep the seat back and loose the armrests or keep the armrests and find a hardtop chevy/pontiac seat back. I really doubt Olds. buick and/or caddy will fit but both chevy and Pontiac used the same body shell and I believe olds 76 and 88 series are same...98 may be bigger like buick/caddy
I think 50/51 Olds are the same size BUT I don't know if they had arm rests... the yard has a 52 Olds but it's too wide i believe. Guess i better take another look out there... Thanks Rocky...
