I've been driving by this car for years and finally inquired about it today. Guy isn't too sure what year it is or model. Says it's a 53 Pontiac probably a chieftrain. It's a 2-door, with a straight 8 that won't turn over. It's lowered and has a pretty radical chop, windshield is probably the state minimum. It's painted bright orange but peeling and rusty. Interior looks to be all there but just thrown in the car. Grill isn't there either. Says it's a roller, a new engine and trans and it will run and drive. He wants $2400 for it. Is it worth that? Anyone have any pictures of these rodded up, I haven't seen much of anything on this car..Thanks in advance, Dave.
can you post a pic of the car? price will totally depend on the condition. plumfat40-nice car! love the hardtops!
Thought I had some on my phone but they never saved. Anyone have a ballpark idea based on the facts of the car?
mid 50s pontiacs kick ass! I just realized I need one for my next car. Get a 4 door and cruise. as to your question, idk
First thing that jumps into my mind is does it have the glass. If it's chopped and the windshield and backglass aren't in it I'd run, chances are good glass won't fit. Probably take more then engine/ trans to make it run, brakes, wiring and all else it probably toast. Don't know how it is in your part of the country but around here $2400 will buy one that's stock and runs. Since it's a custom probably won't matter but stock Pontiac trim and such pretty hard to find, I'm helping a friend with his 53 Pontiac, been looking a year and still can't find all the grill pieces.
Way, way more information needed to give any kind of price. If the chop is well done and has glass it's well worth the asking price. If the chop is poorly done the car could be a $200 parts car.
